Mitchell: “People have demands, let’s accept and respect disapproval”
Mitchell stressed at the press conference following Olympiakos’ loss to PAOK that the world has demands and the team must respect the disapproval.
Olympiacos were defeated 2-1 by PAOK on Matchday 8 and there were boos after the end of the game. At the press conference, Mitchell stressed that he was asked about the event that people have demands, so the team has to respect the rejection.
Mitchell’s statements in detail:
For the result: “Anytime you don’t win, it can’t be considered a step backwards. We know what that means for Olympiakos.”
For disapproving of him: “I know what it means to be here. To be a coach at Olympiacos. At Olympiacos there are demands. It’s incredible that we’re in this situation. But we’ve been in this situation since the beginning of the championship.
As for the refusals, we have nothing to do but respect them. We know that people have entitlements. All we can do is accept and respect them.
There is no excuse. All we can say is that the result is a bit harsh. You can only accept it.”
Regarding the changes to the 11: “I agree with you. I would like to always be able to play with the same XI. But we always have injuries. We lost Cisse, we lost players on the wings and we have to play with other players in Europe. We wanted to enter James Time and let’s start “aligning” the 11.
For the left side of Olympiakos, even if it is vulnerable: “First of all, I will never say anything bad about any of my players. I think it just depends on the moment and the circumstances. We created enough chances and could have scored another goal.”
We made enough with Brusai and Gary and made good attacks from the right. We lacked precision and efficiency. The result is hard based on the picture of the game. Would haveWe played deep on the right and PAOK’s goal came from the left. When you lose, explanations are not so important.”
To continue: “We can’t say anything to the world. It’s hard to explain why we’re going through this phase. We can’t ask the world for anything. Nobody from the outside can help us.”
We have to keep calm and find solutions. Sometimes the solutions are hidden and you have to find them and apply them. We played against a big and good team who shot and scored twice.
But we didn’t even get a draw and that’s negative. We have to find the detail to win the games. I insist that whatever explanation we give, Olympiakos is not used to losing. We have to accept that.”
