Kourbelis: “I fought with myself for 14 months to be successful”
Dimitris Kourbelis survived the Panathinaikos Cup rematch against Anagennisi as a substitute and returned to action after 14 months. In a post on Instagram, he emphasized that he was struggling with himself the whole time to achieve it.
Last Wednesday (February 9th) was a very important day for Panathinaikos because, in addition to qualifying for the cup semifinals for the first time in 5 years, Dimitris Kourbelis’ great return to the field was celebrated.
The Greens captain played in an official game after 425 days since the last game was on December 20, 2020 against PAS Giannina on the Avenue. In a post on his personal Instagram account, Kourbelis spoke about the difficult time returning to action, stressing that he was “fighting with himself.”
“For 14 months I’ve struggled with my pain, my mind, my nerves and myself in general to be able to do what I’ve loved since childhood again. So I can say that this daily struggle was worth it. The feeling of entering the stadium cannot be put into words!
Thank you to my team for always being there for me whatever I ask and to the man who has become my shadow for many days and nights, Xenophon Konstantakis! Always thankful for you! The rest first God in the field “, wrote the chairman of the Greens in his contribution.
