Melissanidis: “With the OPAP Arena I have fulfilled my dream and that of all AEKtzi fans, the stadium gives momentum”
Hosted on a radio show, AEK strongman Dimitris Melissanidis spoke about the construction of the OPAP Arena, claiming that it was first and foremost a dream he had himself.

“I am also very happy. Life dream. First I fulfilled my own dream and that of all AEKtzis. We were tired but we made it‘ he said characteristically.
He went on to say that “We built a stadium, a jewel, a model and now our young people have to preserve it, take care of it and it will always be as beautiful as we deliver it“.
When asked that AEK only counts wins in New Philadelphia, he argued: “The stadium always has its own dynamics, but we also have a good team. We played there in Dachau for all those years, I don’t want to hear it at all, I don’t want this stadium. The ungrateful, cold OAKA. But now we have our stadium, we also have our second base in Spata if needed, so we are optimistic about the future.
