Constantelia’s time draws near: Louchesko’s “secret card” before AEK
Young attacking midfielder Yiannis Konstantelias even claims a place in the derby with AEK in Athens and could be Razvan Loutsescu’s ‘hidden card’.
PAOK has relied on young footballers, perhaps more than one would expect, in a year of roster renewal. Especially at the back, Razvan Loucescu has so far relied on young people who mainly come from his academies (Lyratzis, Tsaousis, Koulierakis) and it looks like more are coming…
Yannis Constantelias seems to be next. With Živkovic and Kanduri suffering from complaints all week and Diego Bisesvar showing he’s not in the best possible shape in recent games, the young midfielder could be his coach’s ‘hidden card’ in the derby with AEK.
From a young age, young Voliotis has shown that he is something special. And it’s no coincidence that he attracted the interest of foreign teams and even some of the best teams very early on with his appearances in the PAOK U-15 team.
Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea have dealt with the case of the pizzeria that enchanted in the tournaments in which the infrastructure teams of the Two-Head took part.
Now Konstantelias… has grown up and is trying to establish himself in men’s football. The second half of last season was loaned to the Belgian Eupen and in the summer he returned to PAOK. His six-month stay in Belgium was not particularly successful, but he matured a little more.
Lucescu has given him 5 minutes so far this season, all as a substitute. Constantelias was crucial in the match against Asteras Tripoli, marking the “counterattack” for PAOK, who managed to come back from 0-2 at his expense and score the point of the draw.
“He’s a kid with a lot of quality, he plays without stress and brings some nice things onto the pitch, the only thing he can fix is the sloppiness he brings onto the pitch at times.” was the honor bestowed on him by the Romanian coach with the necessary criticism.
The time to give him more playing time is approaching. Something that will probably happen in Sunday’s double header derby.
Should he get a starting jersey at all, it will be only his second time in the PAOK roster. His first was a year and a half ago in the final playoff game of the 2020/21 season against rivals Asteras Tripoli, where he started and played a full half.
