Achilleas Poungouras was suffering from lower back pain and is highly doubtful for Panathinaikos’ game against Volos on Saturday (29/10, 19.30 CET).

After the shocking, third injury of a player from the team with a cruciate ligament rupture within ten days, namely the one that – after Trouillet and Aitor – Leandro Frokou suffered on Wednesday evening (26/10) in the game against Trencin for the UEFA Youth League, preparations began from Panathinaikos on Saturday (29/10, 19:30, COSMOTIC SPORT 1) Match with Volos in “Panthessaliko Stadium”.

In the morning training session on Thursday (October 27th) Ivan Jovanovic faced a new problem as Achilleas Poungouras did not start due to back problems. The 26-year-old stopper has been treated and his presence in the squad is extremely doubtful.

The “Greens” started with a warm-up, continued with ball circulation and pressing exercises and then played a semi-field tactical game, which the coaching staff attached great importance to.

Frokou, who has torn his cruciate ligament, will be operated on in the next few days. Also absent were Aitor and Trouillet, who are preparing for their own surgeries to repair the damage to their cruciate ligaments, with surgeries taking place in Barcelona and Lyon respectively.
