Mitchell: “The competitive difference with Panathinaikos isn’t as big as the points difference”
Mitchell expressed optimism ahead of the derby with Panathinaikos, stressing that Olympiacos can play four greens during the season and close the gap to the top.
Olympiacos have won the league twice in a row after beating Lamia 2-0 and that fact means they will go to Leoforos to play Panathinaikos -10 from the top, with the Red-Whites taking this game as the final look at.
Despite the fact that the Greens only win in their first 10 games, Mitchell did not hide his confidence in his players’ abilities and expressed his belief that the difference between the two teams is big in the table, but not so in the game .
What he said in detail at the press conference:
About the game against Lamia and the importance of the game against Panathinaikos: “Yes, the difference is big, but we will play 4 times against Panathinaikos and we will be able to reduce the difference. We want to win with Panathinaikos and we don’t think that, despite the difference in points big, the competitive difference is like that”.
On Ba and Valbuena’s injuries: “We’re awaiting confirmation of the tests but it looks like Ba and Valbuena will be out for a while. Biel isn’t a cause for concern.”
On his criticism and his appointment as team manager: “The year isn’t over yet. I won’t be going on vacation from now on. I’m staying put. I don’t underestimate or discredit Panathinaikos and what they did. We played against teams at their level. Teams like Freiburg, we improved and we did it.” a different mood. Is that criticism or praise? Because I have an answer to both (even if it’s a trainer or admin).
I know what the word coach means. I don’t understand what you mean by admin. Any criticism is welcome. A trainer must also be an administrator. I’ve been criticized as a player and as a coach, but I’ve never been criticized as an administrator. You will have your reasons. I’m certainly not in the management sense because my office is on the pitch.
For Marcelo: “When we came to the team we found players like Samasekou, Marcelo and Fortounis who hadn’t played for a long time. At the moment they’re improving and making progress.”
