Matias Almeida visited the premises of the AEK Academy on Thursday (October 27th) and spoke to its people. The Union trainer addressed the issue of behavior.

Matias Almeida attended AEK Academies after training with the first team. He spoke to his people and spoke about the humility and behavior of young footballers.

AEK’s contribution in detail:

“Today was a very important day for the football academy of PAE AEK. Matias Almeida visited their facilities shortly after the first-team training and had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with the technical staff of the infrastructure departments of AEK .

Welcoming the Argentina coach, sporting director Ilias Kyriakidis stressed that it was a great honor for him and his colleagues to meet a man of world fame and wished him a coaching career worthy of his football.

Almeida himself explained that he is waiting for the moment to meet the academy people as it is also part of his own culture and philosophy to use the infrastructure departments of every club where he worked. He even said he’s experienced this since his days as a footballer at River Plate, which is known for producing top-flight footballers.

What the AEK coach was keen on was the issue of humility in behavior. “The first thing children need to learn is to remain humble in the face of success,” he said.

During the meeting, it was also noted that from this year the academy’s interdisciplinary team will be strengthened with sports psychologist Ms. Frosso Patsou, and the coach of AEK further said that he considers it necessary to have a sports psychologist in every football team.

Speaking to academy officials, he said that as long as the coaches manage to keep the kids happy, the better job will be done with them. He expressed the opinion that AEK Academy is on the right track and stated that today’s meeting is only the beginning to strengthen their role. He reserved for a short time a new meeting with the staff of the Academy with more specific technical and pedagogical questions.”
