Pardew: “After the game against AEK we show more fighting spirit and that we are a family”
Alan Pardew emphasized that after the loss to AEK, Aris players are not only slow to respond, but also begin to understand what he is asking of them in terms of how they work and behave.
The home loss to AEK on Super League Day 7 hurt the players and the world of Aris, but in the two games that followed, the Yellows showed a pulse, both with the upset win over Ionian and the fight over them they gave Leoforos where they bowed down in the delays against the sapper Panathinaikos.
Alan Pardew liked exactly this fighting spirit that they showed, as the coach of the team from Thessaloniki emphasized in his statements before Sunday’s game against OFI (October 30th, 8:30 p.m., Novasports Prime, LIVE from Sportish).that the players show him that they are like a family, like a fist, and that now they understand what he is asking of them.
In detail what he said to Nova’s camera:
On the fact that Aris is conceding the first goal and conceding goals from set pieces in recent games and how to fix it:
“The truth is I haven’t changed a lot of things in terms of set pieces since the day I’ve been here, I work like I do in England. The point here is that apart from the defensive organization and function that.” In set pieces there is an important role and everyone is responsible for set balls. In the game against Panathinaikos, for example, in the phase when we conceded the goal, we had a communication problem between the players, understanding. In general, I think that in the last two games we have become more compact, our team has shown better defensive organization and behavior, there is a problem with set pieces. We’re talking about it and we’ve identified what we’re not doing right and I think we’re working on it well.”
For Aris’ medical report and the players who didn’t play for Panathinaikos like Brambets, Mancini, Ducouret and Camacho:
“I don’t know if all four are going to be there, I want them ready and they have to be ready to play. I think I’ll put some of them for the eleven and some others for the bench in the keep an eye.” It’s more difficult for Camacho and for Ducouret, but for the others I can see how they’re going to run until the last minute. We are doing well in the rehabilitation part, I am satisfied with the work that is being done in rehabilitation and we will do things even better in the future.”
For the four consecutive games after the short break until the World Cup break:
“It’s not unusual for me to play a lot of games in a short space of time, in the Premier League it’s normal to play four or five games in two weeks, so that’s how I deal with it. After the game with AEK we had to give some answers to our fans and I think we are giving them slowly. For example, from this game the team shows more fighting spirit, we are more compact. Also, we all show as a team that we are one. that we’re a family, that we’re a breed. I feel like now, little by little, the team, the players are starting to understand what I want from them, how I want them to function and behave. What is still to be done is to show an improvement in the offensive part as well, we are working on that and I think that will come.”
On the game with OFI and whether he expects anything different after the change of coach at the Cretans:
“OFI comes with a new coach who is very good, I know him from Ludogorets, a big club. That obviously gives the OFI players extra motivation, but our motivation also remains very high. What I expect from my team on Sunday is to be as solid as we’ve been in the last few games, be confident and confident in midfield and show the improvement from there which I’m expecting and certainly expecting our fans up front to see goals up front, that’s what I expect team and I think we’re going to make it.”
