Apollon Smyrnis: “Mr. Clattenberg, you are an English patient”
Apollon Smyrnis made an announcement against chief referee Mark Clattenberg, who had complained about the reluctance to play with Panathinaikos and the two penalties taken by the Greens.
An announcement against Mark Clattenberg was issued by Rizoupoli team before the end of the match between Apollon Smyrni and Panathinaikos.
The hosts object to the two penalties proposed by Angelos Evangelou, characterizing them as non-existent while at the same time characterizing Clattenberg as an English patient doing a poor job.
The announcement states:
“Mr. Clattenberg, we hear and read that only one of the so-called Big 4s supports you. Today you’re trying to enlist the support of a second who’s been shouting about his team’s poor refereeing lately. The referee you sent effortlessly gave two suspects, two non-existent penalties just to quiet our opponent’s voices.
Therefore, you believe that you will ensure the support of Panathinaikos and the security of your chair. At the same time, you killed all our team’s hopes.
Mr. Clattenberg, would you give Apollo these penalties if similar phases took place in the Panathinaikos area? The answer is no.
Mr. Clattenberg, you are an English patient who is doing a very poor job. That’s why you’re going home.”
