Critical 24 hours for Aris and Burgos
PAE Aris strongman Thodoros Karypidis met with Herman Bourgos to take over the technical lead of the ‘Yellows’, with developments expected throughout the day.
Thursday (02/17) is expected to be decisive for the progress of the negotiations between Aris and Herman Burgos. The Argentinian coach, a close confidante of Diego Simeone for many years, met the strongman of the “Yellows”, Theodoros Karypidis, in Athens on Wednesday evening (16.02.), where his team plan was analyzed.
The discussion took place in a good atmosphere, but … white smoke has not yet appeared. After all, this is a very difficult case, which is of course very interesting. Because of this, Mr. Karypidis understands the tremendous effort being made to persuade him to succeed Akis Mantzios in Aris’ technical leadership.
The 52-year-old coach has been Diego Simeone’s closest partner for almost a decade, both at Atletico, Catania and Racing Club. In August 2020 he decided to leave the “Rochiblancos” and pursue the career of the first coach.
In March 2021 he took charge of Newell’s Old Boys, which he left four months later, recording four wins, six draws and five losses in 15 games. He has been free since last summer and is looking for the next training station in his career.
