The historical “I’ll uproot your head” from Burgos in Mourinho
It was in TNovember 2012 with Atletico for the first time at the “Bernabeu” with Simeone – Burgos on the bench. The “Queen” started strong and was in the lead in the 15th minute. Suddenly, before the half hour was up, the television camera caught Burgos turning to the Real bench and addressing Jose Mourinho with the phrase:
“I’m not Tito. I’m going to rip your head out.” (ss was referring to Tito Vilanova, the late Barcelona coach who, while assisting the Catalans, had gotten Mourinho’s finger in the eye during a previous Spanish Supercup final).
Clean, simple, clean, straight cut, with accompanying appropriate gestures. The Portuguese, embarrassed, speechless, just thumbs up, jokes, stays on the bench and remembers only answering after the end of the game, when asked about the incident he said: “Who is Burgos”?
