Giannikis: “If you don’t get results, it’s like carrying a bag with you”
Argyris Giannikis told COSMOTE TV that AEK needs results as it’s like carrying a bag when there are no results, while Karim Ansarifard believes the Union can’t handle all the defeats they’ve suffered lately earned.
Argyris Giannikis in his statements to COSMOTE TV regarding the match between AEK and PAS Giannina in OAKA (20.02., 7:30 p.m., COSMOTE Sport 1 and Live Sportish), pointed out that there was concern in the ranks of the Union that he would concede goals and defeats, although he did not accept the opponent’s chances.
The 41-year-old coach stressed that when the team doesn’t get the results, it’s like carrying a sack full of pressure. Ansarifard, in turn, claimed, among other things, that AEK did not deserve to suffer any of the negative results it had in the previous period.
Details of what Argyris Giannikis said on COSMOTE TV: For the climate in AEK after the defeat and Olympiakos: “There were definitely concerns about the outcome. Despite the good overall picture that we had and didn’t give our opponents any chances, we didn’t take anything with us from the game. Now there is a will and a belief that we can return to wins“.
As for the fact that AEK appeared well organized in the cup games with PAOK and the league games with Olympiakos, but eventually “buckled” in the final: “We work on that every day in training. Our opponents scored goals from just a few phases in both games. From almost nothing. We discussed it with the players, we analyzed it and we’re sure we can go back to winning ways“.
If it’s a spiritual issue, the fact that AEK conceded goals from PAOK and Olympiakos in the last few minutes: “Not getting results is like carrying a bag around. But we need to eliminate that and move forward“.
Ansarifard: “Some of the negative results were unfair”
For the climate in the team after the last negative results: “As you said, we know that we are living in difficult times now. Of course we all understand how difficult the situation is now. But we all try to be together, we try to be together. We are trying to get out of this situation. I find some of the results really unfair to us.
To concede a goal after 94, 95 minutes in a row in a game I think… Okay, we don’t blame anyone, we’re not saying anyone did anything wrong. Of course we have to take responsibility for that. But for me there can be bad luck once, twice or three times in football. We’re here, we strive for the best in every game, but I really think we were very unlucky. I hope to play a good game against PAS Giannina on Sunday“.
For the fact that AEK played calmly in the cup games with PAOK and in the league with Olympiakos, but didn’t win either of those games in the end: “To be honest, we strive for our regular plan every day in training. The coaching staff, the players, everyone strives for the best to implement our plan in the game.
I think it works in games, but like I said, we’ve been really, really unlucky on some small occasions. We concede goals, I don’t know, because of some mistakes or because of what’s happening, and we “pass” the games very easily. But I don’t think it was just in those games. There were many games where we gave away the result while we were a better team on the field“.
Because what AEK needs to do to improve its results: “You see, the situation is what it is. I think we need to stop thinking about the past. What happened happened. We have to look ahead, we have to be humble. Working hard, striving for the best for our team. And in the end I think the results will come‘.
