Anastasiou: “We mature and grow as a team”
Giannis Anastasiou, thoroughly pleased with his side’s win against Panathinaikos, spoke throughout the season about the importance of the result for Panetolikos’ overall picture.
Panaitolikos scored a great 1-0 win over Panathinaikos with the coach of Agrinio’s side on Saturday afternoon, with the end of the game mainly standing in the importance of the result for the club’s general image this season. As the team argued, it matures and grows through such outcomes:
“It was a difficult game against a team with very good ball circulation and dangerous against which you have to defend properly. We took our chances, we scored in the phase where we found, while Panathinaikos lost the penalty. I think we controlled the game and we had a lot of problems. In some moments when we didn’t have the ball, we had to defend near our penalty area. It’s a very important win and a great thank you to the people for their support.
It is important to grow as a team. These victories give us confidence and psychology. Both in the team and in the world. But we have to learn to deal with some things. After the important victories in January, we didn’t really master the next few games. We have to try to get the maximum out of every game, we want to play good football when we have the ball and do the right thing even when we don’t have the ball. The team is maturing and of course the quality and training of our players is maturing as well.
