Super League Interwetten: Five well-known foreigners who played in Greece and left a team
AEK fired Nassim Hnid, who joined the club of players who progressed through the Big-4, but in January of this year they became free agents without yet being able to find their next team.
AEK have released Nasim Hnid following his loan suspension in Al Saliya, Qatar. The Tunisian centre-back will have the opportunity to continue as a free agent in the side he desires unless he falls into the traps of five other free agents who have passed through the Super League Interwetten in recent years but have been unable to find a team.
“Footballers we all know who left their previous teams in January to more easily progress through their careers as free agents, but have stayed free even now that the world’s biggest leagues have closed the winter transfer window.” Window “. the Sportish presents five such cases.
Juan Pablo Pino (Olympiacos)
Talent has never been a problem for the Colombian midfielder, who had a very good career at Monaco before his troubles began in Europe. His move to Galatasaray didn’t have the desired result as Turkey tried to get rid of him a number of times. In July 2012 he was sold to Mersin for almost 100,000 euros, but in August the contract was mutually terminated. Talks with Olympiakos started in September and in January he joined the ‘Red-Whites’ where he had two assists in his debut with Veria. He made five more league and cup appearances by the end of the season and was loaned out to Medellin-based Independiente in the summer. He returned in the summer of 2014 to stay free and continue in Bastia. He played in Corsica until January 2015 and since then has not had a season that has not been halfway free. His semesters (or less) at Universitario (Peru), Arema (Indonesia), Barito Putera (Indonesia) brought him in the summer of 2018. He remained without a team for 2.5 years until January 2021, when he signed for Real Cartagena in his homeland . A year later, “el mago”, as he was nicknamed there, was released and, at just 34, is looking for a team.
Andre Pinto (Panathinaikos)
The 32-year-old centre-back spent 1.5 seasons (2012-2014) as a Porto free agent at Panathinaikos and was never convinced of his potential. On the contrary, when he moved to Braga he had a good presence which made him join Sporting in the summer of 2017. With these two teams he won two cups and two Taça da Liga only to leave him in the summer of 2019 for Al Fateh in Saudi Arabia. From February 2020 to January 2021 he had no team. Last winter he signed with Faurence, where he stayed for six months. In the summer he was unable to find a team, but went to Dinamo Bucharest as a free agent in September, from which he was released in early January.
Christian Nemet (AEK, Olympiacos, Olympiacos Volou)
He joined AEK on loan from Liverpool in the summer of 2009. At the age of 20, the Hungarian striker wasn’t showing much due to injury, but Olympiakos bought him a year later for €1,200,000. He loaned him out to Olympiakos Volou mid-season and went to MTK in the summer of 2011 where he started his career (in an impressive way) at the age of 17. From MTK he ended up at Baalvaik until he canceled his contract with the “Red-Whites”. After that he developed into a gyrologist, played in Hungary, the Netherlands, the USA, Qatar and Slovakia. In October 2020, he returned to the United States for Columbus Crew, who were crowned champions two months later, with Nemeth on the bench for the finals with the Seattle Saunders. In January 2021 he was free to pursue his career wherever he wanted but finally found a team in September. Debrecen only welcomed him for four months after his contract was terminated on January 4 after eight games and two goals.
Marcio Azevedo (PAOK)
The Brazilian left-back was loaned to PAOK in January 2018 from Shakhtar, where he was a member for 3.5 years. He previously spent 1.5 seasons with Metalist, having previously played in Botafogo, Atletico Paranaense, Zuventoude and Fortaleza from his native country. At PAOK he was destined to be Leo Matos’ ‘dark’, playing in just four games, with his weight becoming a bigger topic of discussion than his performances (although he did end up celebrating the trophy). Shakhtar never took him back as he returned home for Atletico Parananense this summer. After 1.5 full seasons, he only made 29 appearances in 2020 and 2021, leaving him on a free transfer in January.
Sheba (Olympiacus)
The Brazilian winger arrived in Greece from Estoril in the summer of 2015 for €1,800,000. He hadn’t moved anything during his tenure at Cruzeiro, Porto B, Nacional Esporte, Brazil, but he was a player Marco Silva knew from his coexistence .in the Portuguese team. Their simultaneous arrival at Olympiakos meant the Brazilian had several chances but failed to deliver as expected. The following season, despite coaching instability, Seba fared better with Victor, Paulo Bento, Vassilis Vouza and Taki Lemoni with three goals and ten assists in 26 league games. He faltered again in the 2017-2018 season and in the summer left Lifan in China on loan in Chongqing. He returned in the winter but was transferred to Al Shabab directly from Saudi Arabia for €300,000. He stayed with the Middle East team for two years (although he returned to Greece to marry actress Eftychia Sideris in the summer of 2020) and after scoring 18 goals and seven assists in 58 games, the 29-year-old Brazilian was released in January of the year.

Despodov became an integral part of a well-coordinated machine: the two great performances against Kifissia
Kirill Despodov put in his best performance with the PAOK jersey in the 2023 final and showed that he has fully integrated into Razvan Lucescu’s group. The Bulgarian midfielder’s outstanding performances against Kifissia.
PAOK ideally completed its commitments before the end of 2023, when it passed Kaisariani with full football and played the newly enlightened Kifissia.
Lucescu’s men produced their most productive performance in this year’s Stoiximan Super League, finishing second in threat as their 15 final appearances were valuable 2.29 xGoals. The previous event happened three days ago in Tripoli when they beat Asteras 4-1. Thomas Murg’s star shone in this game. In Caesariani, Kirill Despodov was MVP.
The Bulgarian midfielder was one of six goalscorers for the Black and Whites and provided three assists, marking his most successful appearance for the Black and Whites. Tyson and Zivkovic were absent from these two games (Asteras and Kifisia), but their absence was never felt. And in this (especially at Kifissia) Despodov played an important role.
Despodov’s two great performances against Kifissia
Kirill Despodov was deployed on the right attacking wing, the position where Lucescu uses him most often, and the Bulgarian once again fulfilled his role. In fact, he was the player higher up the field (77) than Brandon Thomas (71) who turned further back on the field several times, as we can see in the Opta Stats/Perform graph.
Lucescu held him the entire game and Despontov finished the game with 58 actions with the ball. In fact, ten of them were in the Anagnostopoulos area. It was the highest performance by a Dikefalo player in the league, behind Tomas’ 11 appearances against Lamia.
In one of these ten actions, Despodov scored with a beautiful shot from deep. Where it stood out from Kifissia was the creation part. Created four finals All three even provided assists for his teammates (for goals from Thomas, Murg and Ozdoev).
At the same time he had four successful dribbles a record performance by a PAOK player in 90 minutes. Because Despodov was high up the pitch, he didn’t have many passes, but he had a very good scoring rate 26/32 precise passes.
The Bulgarian started perfectly at PAOK, but gradually experienced a slight decline as his role in Dikefalos is different to the one he had in Ludogorets. But now he shows that he is fully integrated, which is clear from both his appearances and his statements.
The summer addition of Despontov and the return of Murg gave Lucescu the opportunity to comfortably and successfully navigate the league and Conference League by splitting time and opening up the rotation. These two footballers were able to adequately fill the gap left by Živković and Tyson, who were missing in the last few games.
