AEK: Processes on whether Giannikis will coach PAOK

The question of replacing AEK’s coach Argyris Gianniki is wide open, even within today.

Yesterday (28/2) was a day when many expected immediate reactions from AEK, after another terrible defeat in a derby, this time by Panathinaikos 3-0 and during which Aris was preceded by PAOK (which also meant exclusion ) and Olympic. However, no drastic changes took place without this meaning that there were no relevant processes.

Dimitris Melissanidis weighed up the situation, spoke to his companions and came closer to making the decision to change coaches. According to information from Sportish, he would have done it if there had been a – if possible – perfect and appropriate solution at the table.

The team’s confidence in Argyris Giannikis has been shaken, and sooner or later his departure is certain. The administrative head of AEK is to decide whether he will change the baton in technical leadership today, a day before the game with PAOK, and how this could happen.

The scenario that Giannikis leaves the team and coaches the long-time assistant coach of AEK, Nikos Panagiotaras, in tomorrow’s derby is also an option. Names of technicians with knowledge of Greek reality available for a course through to the end of the playoffs have been much debated but there are doubts as to their appropriateness.

The Dutchman’s solution, ex-national team coach John Van Sip, is among those who could be promoted under certain conditions, however, in a week-long questioning of his intentions, the ex-Greece national team coach has shown himself unwilling to play a temporary role, despite the prospect was interested in working with Horizon next season.

In any case, today is a day that could see the scene reverse for AEK to break out of the inertia of the last few weeks and resolve something that they believe will at least be able to improve their vibe. An urgent measure that will help the team have a better presence in the remaining 12 games until the end of the season.
