War in Ukraine – Czigrinski: “68-year-old father helps me as a volunteer”
In a statement to SPORT, Dimitro Czigrinski said that despite being 68, his father volunteered in the Ukrainian army to help defend the country against the Russian invasion.
Dimitro Czigrinski and Gegen Sakhov have been the faces of Greek football in recent days.
The two Ukrainians are living out their own concerns about the war situation in their homeland after the ongoing Russian intervention and are trying in their own way to support their relatives.
In the last game against PAOK in Toumba, the Ionian players celebrated Thuram’s goal with the Ukrainian flag in support of the experienced stopper. The people of Toumba even applauded the parade.
On the occasion of this incident, Czigrinski spoke to the Catalan SPORT and announced that “my father is 68 years old and he is a volunteer in the war. He was in the army”.
He also pointed out that “This is not a war in Ukraine, this is a war for humanity“.
