Three teams for a spot in the Super League playoffs, all scenarios
Asteras, PAS Giannina and OFI claim the only remaining ticket to the six playoffs in Super League Interwetten.
They settled the first six and the playoffs after the CAS decision to return the six points to Aris and of course Volos’ loss to Atromitos in a postponed game for Game 16.
The first five teams to secure their spot in the Super League Interwetten Final Six are Olympiacos, PAOK, AEK, Aris and Panathinaikos and there is one more ticket claimed by three teams.
The result after returning the points to Mars:
- Olympia 65
- POC 50
- EK 43
- March 42
- Panathinaikos 39
- star 35
- ΠΑΣ 34
- OFI 34
Anything can be nullified if the -5 is returned to PAS Giannina, as the Six will then be “locked” and the 26th game will not matter for the six teams that enter the playoffs, only the difference in points between the individual teams. Let’s start with the equality criteria.
The Equality Criteria
- The total number of points each accumulated in the games between them.
- The goal difference each team has between the re-equalizing teams in the matches between them.
- The difference in goals in the sum of league games each team has between the re-equalizers.
- The best attack in all league games that every team has under the re-equalizers.
- The best defense in all league matches that each team has under the re-equalizers.
6th star: 35 points
Asteras sits in 6th place with 35 points and meets AEK in OAKA in the final game. If Arkades wins, they will be the sixth team in the playoffs and they are not interested in what will happen in the PAS Giannina and OFI games.
If Arkades gets the “X” in OAKA, they will go to 36 points and want neither PAS Giannina nor OFI to win.
If Rastavac’s team suffers the loss to AEK on Sunday, they can return to the playoffs with losses or even draws against PAS and OFI in the last game.
The last game of Asteras:
- 6/3, 19:00, AEK (off)
7th PAS Giannina: 34 points
PAS Giannina is 7th after deducting five points with 34 points. If he’s justified in second place, then he’s secured a place in the playoffs and the 26th-round games are uninteresting.
With the current data, PAS Giannina only wants a win over Volos and at the same time that Asteras AEK doesn’t beat, while in case of a PAS win he doesn’t care what OFI will do.
In any other scenario, Ioannina’s team is left out of the top six, as if PAS comes to a tie and Arkades loses, then stays seventh in the tie, either doubles with Asteras alone, or trebles when OFI enters.
The last game of PAS:
6/3, 19:00, Volos (outside)
8th OFI: 34 points
OFI is in 8th place with 34 points and hosts Apollon in Genti Koule in the last game. To hope for a place in the top six, all the Cretans need is a three-pointer and a scoring combo to knock down both Asteras (35) and PAS (34). Therefore, they will have their thoughts on their opponents’ results.
Because even with the defeat of Asteras against AEK and the draw of PAS, the three teams will then be found at 35 points and the Cretans are eliminated from the playoffs.
The same will also happen if either result comes for Asteras and PAS Giannina and fails in doubles draw OFI.
OFI’s last game:
- 6/3, 7 p.m., Apollon Smyrni (inside)

Despodov became an integral part of a well-coordinated machine: the two great performances against Kifissia
Kirill Despodov put in his best performance with the PAOK jersey in the 2023 final and showed that he has fully integrated into Razvan Lucescu’s group. The Bulgarian midfielder’s outstanding performances against Kifissia.
PAOK ideally completed its commitments before the end of 2023, when it passed Kaisariani with full football and played the newly enlightened Kifissia.
Lucescu’s men produced their most productive performance in this year’s Stoiximan Super League, finishing second in threat as their 15 final appearances were valuable 2.29 xGoals. The previous event happened three days ago in Tripoli when they beat Asteras 4-1. Thomas Murg’s star shone in this game. In Caesariani, Kirill Despodov was MVP.
The Bulgarian midfielder was one of six goalscorers for the Black and Whites and provided three assists, marking his most successful appearance for the Black and Whites. Tyson and Zivkovic were absent from these two games (Asteras and Kifisia), but their absence was never felt. And in this (especially at Kifissia) Despodov played an important role.
Despodov’s two great performances against Kifissia
Kirill Despodov was deployed on the right attacking wing, the position where Lucescu uses him most often, and the Bulgarian once again fulfilled his role. In fact, he was the player higher up the field (77) than Brandon Thomas (71) who turned further back on the field several times, as we can see in the Opta Stats/Perform graph.
Lucescu held him the entire game and Despontov finished the game with 58 actions with the ball. In fact, ten of them were in the Anagnostopoulos area. It was the highest performance by a Dikefalo player in the league, behind Tomas’ 11 appearances against Lamia.
In one of these ten actions, Despodov scored with a beautiful shot from deep. Where it stood out from Kifissia was the creation part. Created four finals All three even provided assists for his teammates (for goals from Thomas, Murg and Ozdoev).
At the same time he had four successful dribbles a record performance by a PAOK player in 90 minutes. Because Despodov was high up the pitch, he didn’t have many passes, but he had a very good scoring rate 26/32 precise passes.
The Bulgarian started perfectly at PAOK, but gradually experienced a slight decline as his role in Dikefalos is different to the one he had in Ludogorets. But now he shows that he is fully integrated, which is clear from both his appearances and his statements.
The summer addition of Despontov and the return of Murg gave Lucescu the opportunity to comfortably and successfully navigate the league and Conference League by splitting time and opening up the rotation. These two footballers were able to adequately fill the gap left by Živković and Tyson, who were missing in the last few games.
