Benfica has officially announced the takeover of Gustavo Varela, the son of Fernando who has played in PAOK’s infrastructure departments for several years.
“I’ve come to the team of my heart and I have to keep up the hard work. While I was in Greece, I dreamed of playing football in Portugal.” said his eldest son Fernando Varela in his presentation and when asked to describe himself as a footballer, he emphasized: “I know how to hold the ball, share my team play and I like to score goals.”
This development was more or less expected after the agreement of the Varela family with Benfica with PAOK, which had offered the young footballer a professional contract, in order to finally receive food for his training and to keep a resale share of his rights.
