The Kurtic Phenomenon: When he scores a goal, PAOK doesn’t lose
Jasmine Kurtic breaks the breaks, wiping out all his previous goalscoring streaks and leading PAOK confidently every time he puts the ball in the net.
OAKA’s goal in the derby with Jasmine Kurtic’s AEK was the 17th he scored while wearing the PAOK jersey. The Slovenian with that goal gave his team the point of the tie in a game where Dikefalos played from 20 minutes, with one player scoring fewer goals for 4th place time this season with a direct foul.
It is characteristic that PAOK does not lose when Kurtic scores. The 33-year-old midfielder has scored goals in 13 games – four of them twice – and his side have won 11 and drawn two of them.
PAOK with a goal from Kurtic defeated AEK twice, OFI twice and Panathinaikos, Lamia, PAS Giannina, Astera Tripoli, Panetolikos, Volos, Apollon Smyrnis. Two direct fouls by the Slovenian gave Dikefalos a draw in the first cup match against AEL in Alkazar and the day before yesterday in the derby against AEK in OAKA.
PAOK therefore have every reason to celebrate their decision to ‘buy’ their contract from Parma last summer.
His appearance in Greece has become a topic in his home country, where there is talk of a “Kurdish phenomenon”, but also in Italy. Logical considering that he has already scored 15 goals in his first season in the Greek championship. More than half of what he achieved in the decade he played was in Serie A, where he celebrated 29 times.
