Four main reasons keeping Bakaseta away from AEK
In Turkey they wrote that Tasos Bakasetas rejected AEK’s proposal. What could concern Union and the player about this specific case in the near future, but certainly not now?
They found a topic for the Turks to address and presented that Tasos Bakaseta had rejected an offer from AEK to return to Greece and the team through which he had opened the door to Turkey, with the well-known, great results for his career.
Possibly in the future, as he himself would like to end his career at AEK, but the Union will always consider this possibility should the conditions mature.
However, this is not the time when talks about Bakaseta’s return to the Union acquire real value. Herewith:
- Bakasetas is at the peak of his career and at the same time at the most crucial turning point for the big step. In addition, for the first time – after the summer of 2019, when he left the Union – as a free agent, he has the opportunity to choose his next destination himself. Now it’s time to secure a place in one of Europe’s biggest leagues, that is his goal, while teams from Italy, Spain and England are seriously considering his case.
- It is not certain that his style of football corresponds exactly to that presented by Matias Almeida. The international striker is a reference point for Trabzonspor and the Greek national team. Of course, he was always a team player, without egocentric attitudes. However, from AEK onwards, the role in the teams he played for was more centralized than before, apart from the fact that the Argentine’s demands do not seem particularly compatible with Bakaseta’s characteristics.
- Given how AEK is structured today, Bakasetas could compete behind the striker, in the area where the Union has a variety of players. Araujo and Chuber are primarily used there, followed by Mandalos and Pizarro. Pineda also does it whenever the coach deems it necessary. The need for a player in this particular position is therefore far from obvious.
- At the stage he is in today, the 30-year-old footballer rightly has great financial ambitions. There is a salary cap in the Union that no one has exceeded. Money around 1 million euros, which – a little more, a little less – gets to players like Pineda, Vida, Zuber, Garcia. Leader Araujo, for example, has a salary of less than 900,000 euros. Since Bakasetas rejected an offer from Trabzonspor with an annual salary of 1.5 million euros, he obviously believes that he can find a contract like that or even better. But not in AEK.
The question of Bakaseta for the Union could open next summer if and since he himself has not found what he wants and is looking abroad, when his financial needs will be much lower than today and certainly in the case where Almeida decides that this is the case The team really needs a footballer behind the striker.
For example, if Araujo hasn’t extended or it’s proven that Pizarro’s transfer won’t work out. A lot of “ifs” were collected.
Until then, this discussion has neither meaning nor substance.
