Volos stopped in Gendi Koule, a new disaster for OFI
The game ended in a 1-1 draw between OFI and Volos at “Yendi Koule”, with the visitors playing with ten players for 60 minutes and the Cretans remaining winless for the fifth time in a row. Six goals were scored and two scored in the game.
The game between OFI and Volos, which started on matchday 12, had no winner. After more than 100 minutes of play including injury time, both teams were tied 1-1.
In the game in which six goals were scored and two counted, Volos managed to get an important point during the game with Angel Lopez debuting on the bench of the Magnesia team for the fifth consecutive time and OFI achieved the third home win However, no victory, leading to murmurs, annoyance and boos as his players departed.
The game went pretty well as both teams played with eleven men and then OFI was behind in the closing stages of the game looking for the surprise but to no avail.
A game that had everything: goals, phases, excitement, sending offs, injuries, delays, multiple use of VAR and over twenty minutes of stoppage time in both halves.
The two teams played with many changes compared to their previous games. On the one hand, Valdas Dabrauskas wanted to end the negative series of recent results, on the other hand, in his debut on the bench of the Volos team, Angel Lopez made several changes in the faces and also in his faces. He wants enough pressure from his players from above.
Lead with Koba for Volos
OFI was the one who had more ball at his feet and was looking for the goal to take the lead. Scored two goals with Marinaki and Diko, with both goals ruled out for offside. Marinaki’s goal was easy for a period, but Diko’s not so much so that the VAR took some time to make the final decision.
Volos took the lead in the 40th minute through Koba. A goal that was initially ruled as offside, but was eventually ruled out with the use of VAR as the Magnesia striker was in a normal position, both at the start of the phase and when he received Deletic’s assist before scoring the 0: 1 scored.
In the 45+1 minute, the visitors were left with ten players when Garcia received a second yellow card and left his team with ten players.
OFI took control and equalized with Thorarinsson
Understandably, the Volos team retreated as OFI took more initiative at the start of the second half and Dabrauskas made his team even more aggressive with his constant changes.
It was Mosquera who threatened Kostic two or three times in the first quarter of the second half
OFI equalized in the 60th minute with a fantastic goal from Thorarinsson. The home team’s left-back saw the ball spreading in front of him after a corner from the right, took a great shot from his left side and sent the ball into the Volos goalkeeper’s net.
After the 1-1 score, Volos tried to attack the counterattack in some phases, but once Moraitis was offside and the second time Korne’s shot from outside the penalty area went past the left post.
OFI goal disallowed due to offside at 90+2
The Cretans scored their second goal in stoppage time with a long-range shot from Meiados. A goal was disallowed because Diko was offside at the start of the period. The VAR invited the match referee to look at the phase and in the end he concluded that the OFI striker had taken part in the phase.
Valdas Dabrauskas’ team tried to score the second goal in the remaining minutes until the final to claim victory, but in the end they failed.

Despodov became an integral part of a well-coordinated machine: the two great performances against Kifissia
Kirill Despodov put in his best performance with the PAOK jersey in the 2023 final and showed that he has fully integrated into Razvan Lucescu’s group. The Bulgarian midfielder’s outstanding performances against Kifissia.
PAOK ideally completed its commitments before the end of 2023, when it passed Kaisariani with full football and played the newly enlightened Kifissia.
Lucescu’s men produced their most productive performance in this year’s Stoiximan Super League, finishing second in threat as their 15 final appearances were valuable 2.29 xGoals. The previous event happened three days ago in Tripoli when they beat Asteras 4-1. Thomas Murg’s star shone in this game. In Caesariani, Kirill Despodov was MVP.
The Bulgarian midfielder was one of six goalscorers for the Black and Whites and provided three assists, marking his most successful appearance for the Black and Whites. Tyson and Zivkovic were absent from these two games (Asteras and Kifisia), but their absence was never felt. And in this (especially at Kifissia) Despodov played an important role.
Despodov’s two great performances against Kifissia
Kirill Despodov was deployed on the right attacking wing, the position where Lucescu uses him most often, and the Bulgarian once again fulfilled his role. In fact, he was the player higher up the field (77) than Brandon Thomas (71) who turned further back on the field several times, as we can see in the Opta Stats/Perform graph.
Lucescu held him the entire game and Despontov finished the game with 58 actions with the ball. In fact, ten of them were in the Anagnostopoulos area. It was the highest performance by a Dikefalo player in the league, behind Tomas’ 11 appearances against Lamia.
In one of these ten actions, Despodov scored with a beautiful shot from deep. Where it stood out from Kifissia was the creation part. Created four finals All three even provided assists for his teammates (for goals from Thomas, Murg and Ozdoev).
At the same time he had four successful dribbles a record performance by a PAOK player in 90 minutes. Because Despodov was high up the pitch, he didn’t have many passes, but he had a very good scoring rate 26/32 precise passes.
The Bulgarian started perfectly at PAOK, but gradually experienced a slight decline as his role in Dikefalos is different to the one he had in Ludogorets. But now he shows that he is fully integrated, which is clear from both his appearances and his statements.
The summer addition of Despontov and the return of Murg gave Lucescu the opportunity to comfortably and successfully navigate the league and Conference League by splitting time and opening up the rotation. These two footballers were able to adequately fill the gap left by Živković and Tyson, who were missing in the last few games.
