Self-criticism from Olympiacos players in the locker room to Rentis

After discussing among themselves, Diego Martinez and the Olympiakos players accepted their responsibility for the heavy defeat against Freiburg and stepped forward, with Fortuni, El Arabi, Jovetic and Ibora making the red and white dressing room ‘shake’.

It’s not just Diego Martinez who is responsible for Olympiacos’ image and the heavy defeat against Freiburg. Yes, as a coach he has the greatest responsibility, but the players on the pitch are also to blame.

For this reason and after what the Spanish coach said on Friday (1/12) morning in Rentis, a conversation followed between the Olympiacos footballers who also wanted to take on their part of the responsibility given to them and of course they are the ones who can lead the team out of the crisis.

The first to speak was Kostas Fortounis, with the leader speaking up and emphasizing, among other things:

“We are in a difficult situation and we are all to blame for it. That needs to change. We cannot provide such services. Let’s all wake up, we can’t keep going like this. We need to improve and change.” Image. We have to continue with wins in the league as the end result and continue in the Conference League. We’re involved in everything, but we go in and work. There is no other way. We have to change our image.”

Afterwards, a new player at Olympiakos, but a very experienced footballer, spoke about Stefan Jovetic, who argued:

We are within all targets, there is no need to bring destruction. Let’s look at the next game to be good, react and show that we understand what we did wrong. Let’s go to the Conference League and improve our image.”

Similar is the conversation of another experienced person, Vithente Ibora, who added: “It is very important to stay united and fight. We are a good team and we have to keep going.”

El Arabi may not have played as many games with the first team this year, but he certainly knows the Red and White’s dressing room better than anyone, and there he stood with the Moroccan and remarked:

We have to change our way of thinking. Especially when things are not going well, we must not give up. We’re still in the middle of it all. But we have to change our image. Let’s fight for each other and we will succeed. We have good changing rooms. The climate is very good. But sometimes we have to be evil. We have to talk in the stadium. We need to help each other and I believe if we do that more, we will turn the tide.”

Of course, it should be noted that a similar discussion took place after the 4-2 defeat against PAOK at “G. Karaiskakis” took place and the speakers pointed out and emphasized that it is not important for them to understand and they admit their mistake, but change the situation through their actions.
