EL.AS on the incidents in Panthessaliko: “Hundreds were attacked outside the stadium with stones and flares fired directly at police officers”
EL. AS. With its announcement it refers to the incidents at the match between Volos and Olympiakos at the Panthessaliko Stadium.
The game between Volos and Olympiakos (2-2) was marked by incidents that led to the game being suspended for about an hour.
In their announcement, the Greek police referred to the events on and off the field and emphasized that there were six arrests before the start of the game.
The police announcement:
“In the 90th minute of the game, people who were in the stands of the stadium tried to break into the stadium. The immediate intervention of the police officers, who carried out order measures and used appropriate methods, prevented access.”
Later, a large group of people outside the stadium moved threateningly towards the police and hurled objects (stones and direct fire flares), endangering the physical integrity of the class organs and causing damage to an EL. AS service bus.
Police officers used the necessary means – including the limited use of chemicals outside the stadium – and pushed them away, after which they left the scene and the tension did not escalate while 16 arrests were made.
During the checks before the start of the game, six people were arrested for violations of the weapons and flares law and for drug possession.
