This is Olympiakos’ plan for renewal
Shortly before or immediately after the holidays, Olympiakos is expected to hold final talks with Fortounis, Kamaras, Masouras, Paschalakis and Tzolakis about extending their contracts, which expire in June.
The proper preparation has been done a long time ago and the final dates have yet to be determined. Where the landscape becomes clear once and for all. The changes in recent days in the positions of sports director (Pedro Alves) and technical management (Carlos Carvalhal) reportedly do not change Olympiacos’ plan to extend the contracts of players expiring in the summer.
The Red and Whites intend to hold talks about extending their cooperation with Kostas Fortounis, Mandi Kamaras, Giorgos Masouras, Alexandros Paschalakis and Konstantinos Tzolakis shortly before the Christmas and New Year holidays or immediately after, albeit with the time change. The playing commitments are consecutive.
The Piraeus PAE has already carried out preparatory work together with the football players and everyone knows what is necessary to find the golden ratio.
Of course, every case is different, but there is a common element: four of the five footballers mentioned above are crucial, while Tzolakis represents a ready-made solution with a future. And Olympiacos wants to keep them in their squad.
What is the case with Fortuni, Kamara and Masoura?
As for Fortounis, Kamaras and Masouras, a lot will depend on the suggestions and offers from their managers abroad, as the suggestions went to Olympiakos last summer.
We must not forget that a few months ago Fortunis received strong pressure from Al Wehda and the Saudis then offered him 7.5 million euros for three years. However, the latter only gave Olympiakos 1.5 million euros.
Now the Greek midfielder is free in seven months and in three weeks he can sign with any team he wants with a view to the summer. Fortounis, who is having the best season of his career, has 20 appearances, 8 goals and 9 assists in all competitions this season and a total of 314 games, 91 goals and 96 assists for Olympiakos.
In addition, Kamara has been in Lyon’s sights for months and the French are interested in him for the summer, in which he will remain on a free transfer. Olympiacos Piraeus would like to “retain” the central midfielder from Guinea, on the one hand because he is an important cog for the Piraeus team in the midfield and on the other hand because he retains a high market value and can bring money into the club’s coffers in the future.
The African midfielder has played 21 games this season, collecting one goal and one assist, while with Olympiakos he has a total of 202 games, 20 goals and 14 assists.
As for Masoura, Olympiacos have already rejected two offers from Trabzonspor, but the player is being closely watched by Italian and Turkish clubs. The international striker has 21 appearances, 6 goals and 3 assists to his name this season and has a total of 231 games, 53 goals and 23 assists for the Red and Whites. This makes him the most productive winger and regional striker for the Piraeus team in recent years.
As for Paschalakis, he is the main option under Olympiakos’ goalposts and has played 49 games in a year and a half.
