The way to enter stadiums is changing: this is how sports fans will now enter
Giorgos Mavrotas made it clear that the way fans enter stadiums will change and the aim is to find a solution to the problem by February 12th.
The government continues to examine ways to reduce violence in stadiums. One of them involves changing the way you enter them.
Speaking to ERT, the Secretary General of Sports, Giorgos Mavrotas, indicated that he wants to put an end to tickets, at least in the form we know them.
Their goal is to enable access and identification of those entering the stadiums through an NFC technology application that will be connected to the turnstiles.
In particular, the GGA stated: “Previously the cameras were checked once a year before the start of the championship. Now there will be daily monitoring to see if the systems are working and to get police approval.”
Regarding spectator access to the stadiums This is done with a shower or with a photocopy of a QR code that you don’t know who it is. We are in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Governance.
Those who watched the Super Cup between Manchester City and Sevilla this summer will have seen that there were no paper tickets. They left with their cell phone, which can identify the ticket holder. If this is intact, he can walk to the turnstile, open it and enter without requiring police for identification.
When asked whether the system would be open by December 2nd. could be finished, he said: “That is the goal. Setting up the systems. In the meantime, we will also have the cooperation of the groups that also have a common interest in confronting a common enemy.”
