Demis Nikolaidis: “I don’t want my child to go to the stadium alone, I’m afraid”
Demis Nikolaidis expressed his fear of letting his teenage child go to the stadium alone, explaining that although he could allow him to do so, he himself would not want to do so.
One of the questions of the day was answered by Demis Nikolaidisin the context of the content he produces on his personal Instagram account.
In particular, the experienced Greek international referred to the fear that the recent frequent incidents in the stadiums have caused both in him and in Greek society.
At the same time, he spoke of the shared responsibility of the state, which does not feel safe letting his child go to sporting events alone.
Demis Nikolaidis’ entire statement:
“I might have left it. I wouldn’t want to but it’s hard to say no. I would make it easier in European stadiums, but not in Greece.
I’m scared, like everyone else, I think. There is fear and anxiety about what will happen. The boy himself doesn’t have to get involved, but things are dangerous in Greek stadiums, which is sad.
Nobody has addressed this and when we look at the whole thing, we have a state that does not care about the safety of our children. Football is fun, normally 16 year olds should go to the stadium alone, that makes sense.
Apart from all the other problems that exist in Greek society, this is also very important. We don’t feel particularly comfortable at any sporting event, not just football, not even basketball. For many years Greece has not allowed us to go to the stadiums with a group of 15, 16 or 17 year olds in order to return safely“.
