Panathinaikos lost 3-2 to Atromitos in Peristeri despite being ahead with Ioannidis. The greens again made a lot of mistakes and fell off the top.

Mistakes are paid for, but it seems that Panathinaikos has not learned from them, and after what it did in the European games, it has now started giving “gifts” in the Stoiximan Super League games, such as on Sunday against Atromitos Peristeri.

The home team took full advantage of the situation, scoring three goals and achieving a victory, although there was a surprise as the shamrock had been in front of the goal in the 38th minute of the game against Ioannidis.

Then a mistake by Brignoli in the 45+2 minute and a total of two more in the second half gave the defense of Panathinaikos and the Italian goalkeeper Atromitos a 3-1 lead.

The only thing the Greens managed to do was reduce the score shortly before the end of the game with another penalty from Ioannidis. However, the Greek striker’s goal wasn’t enough and the game ended with Atromitos forcing Panathinaikos to a 2-3 defeat.

At the same time, Huancar had to leave the pitch due to knee problems, and the Greens were able to safely prevent the Spanish full-back from being seriously injured.

Four changes to the green lineup

Panathinaikos competed in Peristeri with four changes to the lineup compared to Maccabi Haifa. Brignoli, Kotsiras, Pereth and Mancini returned to the starting eleven in place of Lodingin, Vagiannidis, Arao and Aitor. In fact, the Spaniard and Cerin were excluded from the mission at the last minute due to discomfort.

Brignoli was under the goalposts, Kochira played on the right wing and Huancar at left-back, while Senkefeld-Jedvai formed the duo in defense.

Playing in front of them was Pereth, who had Vilena next to him and Bernard in front of him, while in attack Palasios started on the right, Mancini on the left and Ioannidis up front.

After a meaningless half hour, Panathinaikos took the lead

The first half hour of the game was meaningless for both teams. Panathinaikos had the superiority and possession of the ball, but could not get a final goal towards the opponent’s goal.

In the 31st minute, the hosts were the first to make their presence felt when Valencia headed a cross from the right and Brignoli impressively cleared it for a corner.

Three minutes later, Panathinaikos responded when Kotsiras crossed the field and made a vertical pass to Palasios, who came square into the field while Tsintotas cleared the ball. The ball found its way to Mancini, who turned to Vilena, who took the shot, and Zavellas headed the ball into the open corner.

In the 37th minute, Juancar saw Palacios’ movement in the penalty area, passed the ball to him and the Argentine was knocked down by Keshrida. Ioannidis was the one who did the executing and despite the efforts of Tsintotas, who found the ball with one hand, he managed to hit it and give Panathinaikos a 0-1 lead.

Brignoli’s mistake was canceled out by Atromitos

In the final phase of the first 45 minutes, Atromitos scored the equalizer after a tragic mistake by Brignoli. When taking a free kick from the left side, Ender made a movement from behind and bit the ball in front of the Italian who had come out to the left, and I expected him to catch the ball with his hands, not seeing the leader’s movement have from Atromitos.

The second half started with no changes for both teams, with the home team scoring their first full-time score to turn things around. In the 50th minute, the Panathinaikos defense failed to clear a free kick from the right, Acevedo made a cross from the left, with Brignoli “stuck” at the first post and Vergo beat Gedvai to send the ball to Nets.

The Greens could have tied the game in the 57th minute when Mancini gained possession from the right and crossed at the far post, where Palacios scored a header but it went wide. Another phase had the same outcome in the 63rd minute, when Juancar received the ball from the left in front of him, turned towards the height of the penalty area, where Palacios shot again and missed.

Third goal for the hosts by Romay

In the 64th minute the home team made a good attack from the left, Robay played a one-two with Ender. The Atromitos winger entered the penalty area and “punched” the ball over Brignoli to send it into the net and make it 3-1 for the Peristeri team.

Ivan Jovanovic made three changes in the 68th minute, playing with a duo in attack Sporar – Ioannidis to turn the game around. However, for twenty minutes, Panathinaikos failed to build phases and reduce the score to get back into the game.

The Shamrocks became dangerous in the 89th minute when Mancini headed the ball down the left, entered the penalty area, shot the ball over the crossbar, bounced to the ground and then went wide of the goal. The next minute Ioannidis was in the penalty area, he shot but Tsintotas removed the ball.

In the second minute of stoppage time, De Bok found the ball with his hand when he wanted to clear a corner from the right. The referee continued the game, but the VAR asked him to look at the phase again and in the end he changed his decision and showed the white arrow. Ioannidis took over again, defeated Tsintotas for the second time and reduced the score to 3-2.
