Panaitolikos 2-2 AEK: The Union stumbled in Agrinio, a heroic draw for Petrakis’ team
AEK had no success in Agrinio, despite scoring twice as recently as the 14th minute, while Panaitolikos scored twice and picked up a boy’s point at home. Garcia and Eliasson scored for Union, while Joao Pedro and Baldasara scored for Yannis Petrakis’ side.
AEK came out strong against Agrinio and led by two goals in the 14th minute, but Panaitolikos heroically scored two goals and grabbed a young point in the fight for survival, with the two teams drawing 2-2 on Matchday 14 of the Stoiximan Super League played.
Union took the lead with the first chance of the game. Levi Garcia saw the ball roll into the box and shot into the net after the ball hit Bruno Duarte.
Union’s second goal came in the 14th minute. Eliasson took the ball in the corner of the penalty area and sent it into the net with a great shot after a bend.
Panaitolikos reduced the score with a penalty in the 38th minute. Mladen won a penalty after being kicked by Mukudi as the Cameroon stopper tried to clear. Joao Pedro took a Panenka goal and scored off the crossbar.
The home team didn’t just stop there, they also scored an equalizer in the 65th minute. During the passage in the AEK goal, Baldasara saw the ball coming towards him and shot so that the ball landed in the depths of Athanasiadis’ goal.
With this draw, Panaitolikos reached 10 points and remains below the relegation zone, while AEK has 31 points, the same as Panathinaikos, missing the chance to climb to the top.
AEK quickly scored two goals in the first half
AEK managed to score the goal in the second minute through Levia Garcia in the first good moment of the game. This eased the fears of the Union, who came into the game better.
Panaitolikos, on the other hand, threatened for the first time in the 8th minute with a shot from Fred Duarte from the penalty area, which ended as a corner. In the 14th minute, Union scored their second goal thanks to Niklas Eliasson’s great goal.
With the two goals, the Almeida players were able to assert their tempo. Their next good moment came in the 24th minute when Mandalos deftly took the free kick and found Zini in the penalty area, but the Angolan’s shot was answered by Kapino.
The home team equalized in stoppage time with a penalty won by Mladen and Joao Pedro made the final score 2-1 with a penalty. The last good moment in the first half was Gacinovic’s powerful shot in stoppage time, which was saved by Torrejon.
Baldasara finished the job for Panaitolikos
In the second part the pace of the game was slower than in the first. Panaitolikos was the first to threaten in the 53rd minute, but Huanpi’s shot from inside the box went wide. Union responded with two finishes from Mijat Gacinovic, with Kapino stepping in for the second time and conceding a corner.
Panaitolikos scored the equalizer with Baldasara in the 65th minute with a powerful shot from the penalty area that also hit Mukudi.
AEK struggled to score the third goal but Panaitolikos defended quite well. In the 83rd minute, Jonson found a nice attack from Gacinovic from inside the penalty area, but his shot was countered by Kapinos.
In the 90th minute, Vida’s header went wide, while Van Weert’s header and Jonsson’s shot from outside the box also missed the target. In the final, Vida fell into the penalty area after being marked and the phase was checked by VAR, but the referee agreed and the game ended 2-2.
