Volos: “It’s a shame once again that the referees are blowing the whistle in favor of the big guys”
Volos released a statement against the referees of yesterday’s (December 20) match against Panathinaikos at Panthessalikos, describing it as a disgrace that they whistled in favor of the greats of Greek football.
Volos management has raised complaints about the referees’ treatment of their team, which was also reflected in an official announcement by the Thessalian team regarding yesterday’s (December 20) 3-0 home defeat against Panathinaikos.
Specifically, in the 48th minute and with the score at 0-0, Volos is arguing that the referee of the game, Christos Vergetis, did not give Panathinaikos footballer Bernard a red card.
The announcement from Volos in detail:
“We regret that we once again have to deal with refereeing with a referee who we hoped would have a career.
In the 48th minute of yesterday’s match between our team and Panathinaikos and while the score was 0-0, referee Vergetis turned a blind eye when Panathinaikos footballer Bernard received an obvious red card. And not only that, he wasn’t even noticed with a yellow card, which in turn would be equivalent to him being sent off since it would be the second one.
It’s a shame, once again, because the referees still follow the same tactic: to “whistle” in favor of the “big ones”, with the result that Greek football remains trapped and stuck in the mud.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays and don’t forget that the referees won’t have to accept any strikes in the new year“.
