Legia wants Dioudis on her own terms, Panathinaikos’ response
Legia are aiming for a first-choice goalkeeper and, according to Sportish information, have top of the list Socrates Dioudis from Panathinaikos, whom he only wants to loan out on a free transfer or with an option to buy as he doesn’t have a budget available for transfers. The international goalkeeper is aware of the interest, but it is unlikely that the Greens, who have already said the first ‘no’, will give in to the pressure for free.
Legia Warsaw are looking at several positions for the best possible cases in their squad, which is in a very difficult position in the league after completing the first half of the season in Poland. The holder of 15 championships and 19 cups this year sits in 17th place and is fighting to remain after 18 games.
So she wants to strengthen herself as much as possible in view of her commitments, which start again on February 4th with the away game against Lubin.
The Poland side, currently in Dubai for preparation, will make at least five to six signings and are looking for a key goalkeeper, among other things. Her list currently includes 42-year-old Boruts and three young people aged 19, 20 and 23, but they do not inspire confidence.
Therefore, as Sportish may know, the list prepared by Legia also includes Sokrates Dioudis from Panathinaikos, who lost the position of regular player under the goalposts of the Brinoli clover this year. However, the 28-year-old Greek goalkeeper has a contract with the Greens, which is a thorn in the side of the Poles.
As with Legia, only his takeover as a free agent is talked about as the Warsaw team is also going through a difficult period, both competitively and financially. So there is no money in the coffers and for that they will proceed with the acquisition of free or loan players.
Diodis knows about the interest
Aware of Legia’s interest, Dioudis seems to have been thinking about it since losing his position as a key player and is said to be making every effort to go somewhere to play as a key player again. At the same time, the national goalkeeper still has a contract until 2023, as he extended it by three years with the Greens in the summer.
Panathinaikos said the first “No”
So if you consider how Panathinaikos handled the case of Brazilian Mauricio a few days ago, you understand that the attitude would not change and Diodis would leave without any respectable consideration. The confirmation of the assessments came immediately, since the Greens informed about a first proposal from Legia that had already been rejected. This didn’t include any money for Panathinaikos, which of course the people of Trifyllio refuse, especially since it’s about an international footballer with a valid contract.
It remains to be seen if the version of the loan with any mandatory purchase option will fall on the table next summer and thereby find the golden ratio that closes the distance. So let’s keep an eye on Legia’s interest and see how this case plays out.
