In an interview in his home country, Razvan Lucescu referred to unknown events of his youth and spoke about his relationship with his father.

PAOK coach Razvan Lucescu revealed unknown aspects of his private life in another interview he gave to Romania, mainly speaking about his relationship with Mircea’s father.

Details of the 52-year-old coach’s statements: In 1991, after my father’s first year in Italy as a coach, he raised some money for an investment, told me where the money was and took an amount from there without telling him.

When he met his friends to decide what to do with the money, I called one of them and told him how much I got. I promised to put them back on tomorrow, I just wanted you to help me. Only another friend at the table noticed something was wrong. And my father said: “Razvan, there is less money here!” I froze, I felt awful, it was something I didn’t expect, I felt scary, unbelievable shame..

He then referred to his father’s reputation: “The fact that he was the one who paved the way for me to be happy. I’m doing something I’m passionate about. To be happy you have to love what you do. It’s because of him.”

To print the name Lucescu: “Today this name no longer pushes me. There was pressure when I was young, at the beginning of my racing career, then at the beginning of my coaching career. Those were less pleasant moments over time. The way people looked at me.” Some people used to say uncomfortable things to me. Now I make myself smile, but I’ve been through a lot of disappointments.”

For pocket money he received as a child: “My parents caressed me. I didn’t have any flaws, they didn’t deny me. It’s true that my father, who was less involved in my life, felt obliged to thank me or say no to nothing. The one who really had my back “She was my mother. At 14 I was allowed to take a taxi if I was late for practice.”
