Olympiacos: Agibu Kamara is not the only one suffering from his injury
The medical staff of the Guinean national team stumbled upon Agibu Kamaras ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 game on 24 January (penalized Nabi Keita will be absent) and Olympiacos is monitoring the situation for reasons of its own.
Agibu Kamara injured his ankle in the first half of the first leg of the 1-0 Guinea-Malawi game on 10 January during the Africa Cup of Nations group stage premiere and eight days later he’s still in pain.
The 20-year-old Olympiacos forward lost the games against Senegal and Zimbabwe and for the time being it is doubtful whether he will catch the round of 16 game against Guinea on January 24 in the round of 16. The Red-Whites are in constant contact with Agibu, updated on how their situation is progressing and fearful as his injury is putting him out of game and rhythm and there is currently no clear picture of when he will be fully ready.
Because they fell on him
The technical management and medical staff of the Guinean national team are close to the young footballer for two main reasons: Firstly, because the 2-1 defeat against Zimbabwe on Tuesday (18 January) upset national coach Caba Diavara, and secondly, because he is the league leader and the team’s natural leader, Nabi Keita (Liverpool), has completed the cards and will miss the deciding game of the round of 16.
In Guinea, for example, they are doing everything they can to prevent Agibu from playing on Monday (24/01) in the hope that with a series of treatments the swelling in his ankle will soon subside and the Red and White midfielder will be able to play. Guinea will know their opponent on Thursday (20/01) who will be either Gambia, Mali or Tunisia.
France Guinea coach is hoping to have Agibu Kamaras (two weeks since his injury) available for Monday’s crucial game, while the player himself is eager to play. However, everything is judged according to the suggestion of the medical staff, since there is a risk of recurrence.
Not before the end of January
From there they already have the ticket to qualify for the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon (Kunde), Senegal (Cisse), Guinea (A. Kamara) and Nigeria (Oniekourou), although everything indicates that it will happen in Cape Verde (Rodrεςguez) as one of the top four scorers from the six groups. But that should be clarified on Thursday (20.1.).
Consequently, all five Olympiacos players will not return to Greece before the end of the month as the round of 16 matches of the tournament will be played on January 23-26.
