Volos 1-0 Apollon Smyrni: If you have Tom van Vert, go ahead
Volos, with Tom van Wert scoring his 11th goal this year, edged Apollon Smyrni 1-0 in a match postponed for the 15th game and moved closer to the top 6, with Apollon Smyrnis remaining bottom of the table
Volos defeated Apollon Smyrna 1-0 thanks to Tom Van Wert’s goal in the first half for the postponed game of the 15th game of Super League Interwetten.
The Dutchman scored his 11th goal of the year and took his team close to the top six in La Liga, while Rizoupoli’s side remained bottom of the table.
Costas Bratsos’ side, while not playing as well as in their previous games, were better, pressing throughout the game and finishing with 12 finals, seven of which were at home. On the contrary, the visitors only made three finals, none of them at home to Kodnik.
Tom van Wert scored with the third
The first good moment of the game belonged to Apollon Smyrni when Pamlidis scored in the 13th minute the header from a Barrientos cross from the right, but the ball goes wide of Kodnik’s goal.
Costa Bratso’s side responded in the next minute with a Van Wert header that forced Verhulst into an impressive move. The Dutch striker was the biggest threat for the visitors’ home side as he had a total of five actions with the ball in the first half alone.
In the 22nd minute, the Belgian keeper stopped another shot by Van Vert, but a minute later the Volos striker opened the scoring. Ferrari made the cross in the small area with the 31-year-old making the play, this time beating the Apollon goalkeeper.
Somehow, the Dutchman has scored 11 goals in the league and now he needs one more goal to level with PAOK’s Kurtic, who is at the top of the Super League Interwetten top scorers list.

The second half didn’t have many periods where the hosts stayed strong and tried to maintain their 1-0 lead until the end of the game. Something they did with relative ease.
It is significant that the guests, keen on points, made only one phase and that Kodnik accidentally stole the ball temporarily from Slivka, but the home team’s goalkeeper saved the ball with a blizzard before Slivka hit the target.

Volos again had the best moment in the second half with Purita in the shooting position in 77′, but the home team’s striker’s shot was blocked by Verholst and kept the 1-0 level that stayed until the end of the game.
