Cornelius: “Panaitolikos makes history this year”
Derek Cornelius, Panetolikos’ second goalscorer against OFI, referred to his side’s victories against AEK and Olympiakos this year and stressed that the ‘Canary Islands’ are making history.
Panaitolikos defeated OFI in Genti Koule 4-2 in game 19 of Super League Interwetten and after the double against AEK and beating Olympiakos in the cup, they achieved another great victory.
There was also Derek Cornelius, who in his statements after the end of the game was happy about his goal and at the same time emphasized that Agrinio’s team is making history this season.
What he told Cosmote: “I’m very happy today! We got a great win in Heraklion against OFI! Of course I made a mistake with the penalty but luckily Melissas saved the situation by saving the goal. And of course we did it , with the goal I managed to score.” a very big win!
We are very happy because this year we make history by beating AEK, Olympiakos but also OFI for the first time. “But we have to stay focused to achieve our goals this year.”
For the goal he scored: “The goal I scored was a phase worked out in training. I managed to score it with my head and not with my hands like I did in training!”
For OFI: “OFI certainly proved to be a great team! We withstood the pressure when we changed the system and managed to get a very big and important win.”
For the following matches with the Canada national team: “I’m going to Canada for World Cup qualifiers tomorrow. We’re in a balanced group when it comes to qualifying. I’m definitely looking forward to the game against Honduras, but I’m also unhappy because we’re not.” I’m going to meet Flores to swap shirts, something that would be a fond memory for both of us.
