Panaitolikos – Aris 0-2: return to white ball victories

on

Aris returned to Panetolikos’ 2-0 win away from five unsuccessful results with two well-aimed penalties from Matia and Kamaras.

Aris needed two well-aimed penalties, the first of which was a contested one, to earn his first win of 2022, defeating Panaitolikos 2-0 and even scoring the first goals of this new year.

The “Yellow-Blacks” left Agrinio with the brace and climbed to 7th place, overtaking OFI in the corresponding ranking. On the other hand, Panetolikos, who had many complaints about Thanasis Tzilos’ referee when Giannis Anastasiou came on the field to protest at half-time, could have gotten something better out of the game but he was also unlucky.

Aris found two quick goals in the game, from white ball, with well-aimed penalties from Matija and Kamaras, and then had a crossbar and some phases to score a third goal. All this until 60′, when the rhythm of Mantzio’s side, who had played 120 minutes of play during the week, faltered.

On the other hand, Panaitolikos seemed more influenced by Tzilos’ decisions and the two penalties against him in the first half, causing Giannis Anastasiou’s players to lose their minds. Yes, they played well on the counterattack, but they didn’t have classic scoring chances.

They succeeded in that in the second half when they put the ball down, threatened, had a crossbar and if they had reduced the goal they could have claimed something better at the end of the game.

Two goals from the white ball in 15 minutes

Aris managed to score with characteristic ease on his first attack from a Tzilos penalty, but it was quite questionable. Entiage entered the penalty area in the 2nd minute, seemed to slip under pressure from Flores and the match referee awarded a penalty. The VAR didn’t change Tzilos’ decision and Matija undertook his execution to beat Melissa 1-0 in the 5th minute of the game.

Panaitolikos tried to break out in attack and equalized immediately, scoring with Karelis that didn’t count as offside but leaving several gaps in defense allowing Aris to find the phases and a second goal in a quick counterattack. In the 18th minute, Kamara found Mancini in the penalty area, he passed Melissa, who rolled over him and Tzilos took the penalty again.

Kamara took over the execution this time and sent Panetolikos team’s goalkeeper from the other side, giving his team a two-goal lead.

Panaitolikos went on the offensive, stepping into Aris’ space and had a crossbar with Apostolakis and two or three good moments with Karelis, who didn’t find his way to the net. The Greek striker even claimed a penalty in the 36th minute when he tried to send the ball into the net when he felt a push from behind.

The first part ended with Bruno Gama’s shot on the crossbar and a missed opportunity for Aris to make it 3-0 and ‘secure’ his win from the first 45 minutes.

During the break, the hosts protested heavily against the Tzilos referee, most notably Anastasiou, who had strong complaints from the match’s referee. In the 47th minute, Mendoza took a shot from the cross after a box filler, and Ciambanis fired into a corner at the last minute.

Panathinaikos is unlucky

The second half started without changes for either team, with Panaitolikos pressing better on the field and looking for a quick goal to reduce the score.

After an hour of play, Mendoza caught an incredible shot from outside the box and saw the ball land on the crossbar from Ciambanis, who was unable to react.

In the 61st minute, the two coaches made changes to change their side’s image, but neither Giannis Anastasiou nor Akis Mantzios got what they expected.

Panaitolikos was unable to threaten until the end of the game, while Aris, tired from Thursday’s cup game, turned back to maintain the points and claim their first win of 2022.

Essentially, the next good moment of the game was lost in the 85th minute when Vergos was outside the box, taking the shot while Ciambanis blasted into a corner with a ball in his right corner.
