Ares announced the acquisition of Enkolou
Aris announced the signing of Nikolas Nkoulos, with the 32-year-old Cameroonian centre-back signing a two-year deal.
Ares continues his powerful buff. The Yellows announced the acquisition of Nikolas Enkoulos. The 32-year-old central defender from Cameroon (1.84 m) has signed a two-year contract with the yellow team.
Nkulu has a rich resume. Specifically, he started his career in Monaco and then went to Marseille and from there to Lyon. In the summer of 2017 he was loaned to FC Torino, who picked him up permanently a year later for 3.5 million euros.
He stayed in Italy until the summer of 2021 when he left as a free agent to be taken on by Watford. His collaboration with the English team ended a few days ago without an extension. He played three games for Watford last season. Enkolou carefully watched Aris win over Levadeiakos.
Aris’ announcement in detail:
“PAE ARIS announces the acquisition of Nicolas Alexis Julio Nkoulou, as his full name is, for the next two years.
The 32-year-old defender from Cameroon has signed for our team after passing a medical.
Nicolas Nkoulou was born on March 27th, 1990 in Yaounde, Cameroon and took his first steps in football at the Kadji Sports Academy.
Monaco brought him to Europe in the summer of 2007, first to the second team and later to the first.
After 86 appearances for Monaco, Marseille paid €3,500,000 to sign him in July 2011.
He enjoyed five very successful years at Marseille, wearing the Marseille shirt a total of 207 times (5 goals), with which he also won a French Cup (2011-’12 season).
In the summer of 2016, he was sacked and Olympique Lyon included him in their team. After 22 appearances in his first season at Lyon, he was loaned out to Turin for a year.
The Italians were impressed by Nkoulous’s performance and at the end of his loan they rushed to buy him in July 2018 for €3,500,000.
Thus ended his cycle in France after 315 games in the French league, French cup, Champions League and Europa League.
In Italy, Nkoulou excelled, making 135 appearances (6 goals, 1 assist) for Torino in all competitions.
In the summer of 2021, the Cameroonian international was sacked by Turin and moved to England on behalf of Watford. After three Premier League appearances, an injury kept him out of action.
After Watford’s relegation to the Championship, Nkoulou was sacked and chose ARIS to continue his career.
He has played 72 times for the Cameroon national team, with whom he enjoyed the best moment of his career when he won the Africa Cup of Nations in the summer of 2017, scoring against Egypt in the final.
“In my mind there is only victory”
In his first comments on arisfc.com.gr, Nicolas Nkoulou stressed:
“I am delighted to now be part of ARIS. I came here to help my new team achieve the high goals they have set for the new season. I was impressed by the atmosphere created by the ARIS fans. In my eyes there is only victory”.
