Vassilis Dimitriadis donated to the AEK History Museum in the OPAP Arena

Vassilis Dimitriadis has made a special donation to the AEK museum that will house it OPAP Arenadonated two of his number “9” jerseys from the 1992-93 and 1994-95 seasons, as well as the gold boot he won in the 1993 season, the shoes (from the 1993 season) and the jacket from the team’s suit worn at the time.

The former footballer stepped onto the OPAP Arena lawn along with his family and expressed his honor for having played with AEK and being part of its history.

“Vassilis Dimitriadis returned to the New Philadelphia field and “scored” again by making a great donation to the AEK History Museum, which will be housed in the OPAP ARENA!

The great goalscorer of the 90s, who celebrated three championships (1992, 1993, 1994) and two top scorer titles with AEK (1991-92 with 28 goals and 1992-93 with 33 goals), donated the Museum 9 shirt of the 1992 season to the soon-to-be club -93 and the equivalent of the 1994-95 season.

Also of great historical and emotional value is the golden boot that Dimitris Melissanidis gave him as President of PAE AEK in 1993 when he was top scorer with 33 goals in 33 games! The former AEK soccer player also donated the boots and cleats he wore in this season’s games. Another special “piece” of the collection is the jacket from the team uniform of the time.

Vassilis Dimitriadis visited the OPAP ARENA today together with his wife Niki, his daughter Maria-Anthimi and his son Nikos, who plays in AEK’s K19 team. Unfortunately, his daughter Anna was not able to attend for professional reasons. The Dimitriadis family was photographed with relics from Vassilis’ career inside the stadium but also inside the arena.

Immediately after handing over his collection, Vassilis Dimitriadis declared: “Great honor and emotion for me and my family for wearing, bleeding, sweating and honoring the jersey of this great team, for playing for this wonderful world of theirs, for being a part of their history.

AEK is ready to enter an amazing stadium, a lifetime achievement for the team that is an exclusive achievement and contribution from Dimitris Melissanidis. A gem, a beautiful jewel here in the refugee city of New Philadelphia, home of every Unionist‘ AEK wrote in its post.
