The AEK championship “swallowed” the Mitai project
Vangelis Arnautoglou writes about Mario Mitai’s upcoming transfer from AEK to Lokomotiv Moscow and understands Matias Almeida’s difficulties in entrusting him with the big deal.
Dimitris Melissanidis, a team capable of claiming the title in the year it moves into its new stadium, asked Matias Almeidas. This is a given given the activation of OPAP Arena, which is expected to happen next October in AEK’s home game against Ionikos.
However, he laid the facts and settled on the squad that will allow him to build such a competitive team – something AEK have forgotten since the now-distant 2017-18 season as they surrendered without a fight – the Argentina coach had to make difficult decisions.
One of them was related to him Mario Mitaiwho is about to move to Moscow on behalf of Lokomotiv instead of 3 million euros.
The 19-year-old Albanian left-back attended the squad’s basic training session in Alkmaar, The Netherlands. There Almeida admitted that while he was a particularly talented footballer, he was not one who would immediately do the job he had in mind.
He wouldn’t even trust him as a “back-up” for Chumber since he counts Mohammadi among them. Mitai’s destiny would be to return to AEK B’ for another busy season in Super League 2.
Somewhere there Lokomotiv’s proposal “banged”. The footballer was excited by this prospect, with the significantly more money he is set to receive in Moscow, but mostly because he has now believed he would take a step backwards rather than forward at AEK.
This compulsion by large groups to yield to experience and fear development would prevent him from achieving what he had in mind.
There was no perspective for him in the Union
‘Mitai Project’ will bring great income to PAE, really hopeless! On the other hand, however, the reasons why AEK cannot develop their own child and is afraid to promote it, while in Moscow they have the convenience of spending a large amount, believing that in 1-2 years from today they will you will have a player on your list who will be worth many times the money. They may fail, they may drop out, but they will have dared what Almeida, for example, would not dare when asked to build a champion team.
I don’t lie to the coach, nothing else! The Argentine respects AEK but also his work. It’s the door that has opened up for him in Europe and from the moment he’s asked to complete the title case – something he’s himself professed to be his priority goal – he’ll go with those he works for most willing, and not wasting time on possible costs, take young people by the hand to bring them forward.
A look at the AEK line-up in the game against Lamia reveals the truth: only two players were far from the 30-year-old mark, 27-year-old Simanski and 26-year-old Pineda. It is certainly the team’s “heaviest” 11-year-old in recent years, although the presence of Mukudi and Gacinovic will lower the average. We will certainly have to wait for those that are acquired.
In conclusion, Mitai leaves AEK because if she dared to trust him, years would have passed and the train might have been lost. He leaves to find a philosophy of football that he does not understand, for opportunistic goals that are not absolute that they will be achieved. Because the Union says they want to do a championship, but will it succeed?
Lokomotiv’s proposal was a life saver. For both. The union raises enough money, they will have a percentage of the resale, so no one will blame them for “sold out”, as happened with Bakaseta and Giakoumakis, for example. The player, on the other hand, will go where they want most because that’s how they want them to feel. Financially strong but at the same time a convenient deal as it got them both out of a difficult situation.
