Kifissia: “We’ve proven many times who we are and what kind of football we stand for”
Kifisia made a statement on the refereeing of the match against OF Ierapetras and the goal scored in the seventh minute of added time, stressing that the Northern Suburbs team showed what kind of football they stand for.
On Saturday evening (12/10), Kifissia made a statement on refereeing in the match against OF Ierapetras and the goal scored in the seventh minute of added time, which provoked reactions from the guests who thought it was an offside position.
In the announcement, the Northern Suburbs team notes that they have not been, and will not be, involved in any behind-the-scenes litigation.
The announcement states:
“In the last few hours we have noticed with amazement that our team’s great start to this year’s season (9 clear wins in as many games in the Greek Cup and the Championship against opponents such as Apollon Smyrnis, OFI and Athens Kallithea) is underestimated and degraded in the altar of a referee’s decision not to allow offside in our home game with OF Ierapetra.
In light of this fact, we as PAE Kifissia declare unequivocally that we have never been involved in any absolutely behind-the-scenes process of footballing interest and we will not be involved!
Any other scenario that arises — aside from being utterly unfair — is nonexistent for our side, who are new to professional football but with a clean 90-year history and a board of Kifisians who just do the hobby and to serve their love of football, with the principles and moral values we espouse above all else!
Therefore we will not allow anyone to leave hints about the morals and character of the members of the PAE Kifisia family and reduce the tremendous effort we are making to best represent the city of Kifisia and the northern suburbs as a whole.
From the very first moment we got involved in football, we have passed our tests and proven many times over who we are and what football we stand for.
We will continue to follow the same principles and values without arrogance and aim to play every game honestly and with an inexhaustible passion for victory, respecting all our opponents and perhaps teams with a great history in Greek football.
We hope this is the last time we have to point out the obvious about our team and hope we receive the same respect we show our opponents as well as the same hospitality we offer every time.
Good luck and most of all we hope we all strive to protect and enhance our beloved sport.”

Finally, Simos from the Ionian Bank
Giorgos Simos has left the technical leadership of Ionikos since Wednesday (21/12), with the Nice team’s administration announcing the end of cooperation between the two teams.
Giorgos Simos took over from Ionikos at the start of the season but did not stay at the helm for more than a few months as the Blues’ management announced on Wednesday (21/12) their decision for the two teams to part ways.
“I would like to thank the entire Ionikos family who made me feel like I was a part of it from day one. Of course I would like to thank the players, my partners and the people in the team.”
I wish you all the best, only success and the fulfillment of all your goals”said Giorgos Simos, turning to Ionikos’ family.
“PAE Ionikos announces the mutual agreement to work with coach Giorgos Simos. The coach took over the team at a difficult time, with four tickets fighting to get back on their feet and reach the top of Super League 2, with the only goal being promotion to the first division.
Ionikos’ family feels the need to warmly thank George Simos for the ethics and professionalism he has demonstrated throughout. “Trainers, we wish you health and much personal and professional success,” says the Nice team’s announcement about the end of the collaboration with Simos.
It is noted that after 12 games in the 2nd group of Super League 2, Ionikos is in 6th place and has accumulated 19 points, five less than leaders Athens Kallithea.
