AEL – Renaissance Karditsa 0-1: Historic doubles at the Alcazar

Anagennisi Karditsas won the Thessalian derby against AEL in Alcazar on Matchday 14 of Super League 2 Group A, winning 1-0 thanks to Kozoronis’ well-timed 68th-minute penalty. This is the Karditsa team’s first win at the Crimson’s home stadium, as in the previous 12 games AEL have won six games and drawn the other six.

In the first half, the Maroons dominated and had a few chances to score. They could almost have taken the lead with Thomaidis’ direct corner kick in the 20th minute, but they also had other options.

In the second half, the guests were the ones who started the game better and scored in the 68th minute. Ouattara stopped the ball with his hand in the penalty area and Papadopoulos signaled the end of the penalty shootout. The execution was done by Kozoronis, who sent the ball into the net with a precise penalty.

The game started eight minutes late when the referee called for two flags to be brought down for the duel in Tempe, however the game started as usual with the flags remaining in place.
