The moment AEL fans invaded the booths of Niki Volos’ friends, 12 arrests were made and 2 detained

A VIDEO has been released showing AEL fans storming the stands of Niki Volou’s friends. Police issued a statement on what happened in Panthessaliko.

The match between Niki Volos and AEL for Group A of Super League 2 ended ingloriously when the referee decided to call it quits in the 49th minute after clashes between the fans of the two teams in the Panthessalikos stands came.


In VIDEO posted to social media, fans of the “Crimson” can be seen trying to enter the stands where the home team’s fans were.

That’s when they intervened the police forces and there were 12 arrests and 2 arrests as stated in the police statement.

The announcement states:

“Yesterday, Friday, April 7, 2023, at 12 o’clock, during the football match between the teams “PAE NIKI VOLOU – PAE AEL” in the Panthessaliko stadium of Volos, about -150- fans of the home team burst through the gate from the stands, with the intention of approaching the opposing team’s fans, however, were stopped by the police forces, who took action in the area.

Then, about 200 home team fans moved to the stadium’s peristyle and violently attacked by throwing heavy objects (cement, etc.), while some of them left the stadium and damaged a car’s front window.E. Automobile.

The police forces managed to repel them with the necessary appropriate means and with appropriate manipulations.

-12- people were arrested, of which -8- were minors, while -2- people were arrested, against whom criminal proceedings may have been initiated for violation of sports laws and violence against officials and judicial officials. It is noted that one of the two detainees injured his knee while approaching fans of the opposing team and was taken to the city hospital.

A preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Volos Security Sub-Directorate”.
