Kavala was engulfed in grief when 19-year-old soccer player Enea Topi, who played in the infrastructure department, died in a traffic accident.

Kavala was in mourning when the 19-year-old soccer player, who played in the infrastructure areas, died in a traffic accident on Tuesday (6/6).

The unlucky player suffered a tragic death when the bicycle he was riding with another person became wedged in the wheels of a large truck, a type of garbage compactor, belonging to the municipality of Kavala.

The garbage truck (Press type) was on its way to the Kavala Municipality landfill site when, according to initial estimates, the young driver of the two-wheeler appeared to have lost control and got under the wheels of the large vehicle, resulting in a fatal accident and injuries.

The passenger of the two-wheeler suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Kavala General Hospital.

The road to the landfill is particularly narrow for almost its entire length and had to be closed for several hours. The Kavala Traffic Authority is conducting the preliminary investigation to determine the exact causes of the tragic accident.

The related announcement from Kavala:

It is with great sadness that we learned of the accident of our little hero Enea Topi. One of the athletes who fought for our beloved team last year and taught what dignity and selfless love means to the city and AO Kavala.

From the bottom of our hearts we wish his family, who is saying goodbye so unexpectedly and prematurely, much courage and strength, may the ground that will cover him be light.

Bon voyage Ennea, bon voyage to the neighborhood of angels!”
