Superleague 2
Kifisia is the team of many protagonists: the value of the right decisions and the decisive points
Kifissia got the ticket to Super League 1 from Super League 2 Group B without having a highly paid star in their line-up. The value of the right decisions, the protagonists and the most important points.
Kifissia has been part of the Stoiximan Super League 1 family since Sunday afternoon, June 11th. This year’s Super League 2 marathon isn’t over yet, but with one game to go Kifisia secured promotion to the big leagues and experienced unprecedented football moments.
And the truth is, he made it without having a high-paid star, a soccer player (or more) with a big contract, someone to wear the leader’s label. It might sound a bit trite (but in this case it’s absolutely true), but Kifisia came out on top at the end of the run because of her solid image, dressing room and good teammates.
Somehow no single person can become an MVP. For every great result (everything was worth it until the goal was reached) there was another player who stood up and gave a significant helping hand. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfielder or a striker.
So who to highlight? Difficult. But let’s say the following epigrammatically:
- Alexandros Anagnostopoulos has been Kifissia’s ‘guardian angel’ with 16 goals conceded this year in Super League 2. This number shows the magnitude of his contribution, which is of course no coincidence. After all, it is a goalkeeper (ss: from the Academy of Panathinaikos, after subsequently living – even in the same room – with the current Technical Director of Kifissia, Stefanos Kotsolis), who celebrated promotion to Super League 1 for the fourth (!) time a few hours ago – they were preceded by Aris, Apollon Smyrnis and Ionikos.
- Nikos Vafeas went viral a few weeks ago when he scored a buzzer bat against Panachaiki. In the end, however, he was also the one who sealed Kifissia’s rise to fame, executing the precise penalty in the 88th minute of the game against Kalamata. For a defender (who plays a central role in the 3-5-2 trio Kifissia played this year), the two goals in the final stages of the championship are not just a negligible sum.
- Stelios Pozatzidis (from left) and Kostas Provydakis (from right, since winter) were the players who basically played on all sides in 3-5-2. Their physical qualities (explosiveness, intensity and good crosses) contributed to Giorgos Petrakis insisting on this system.
- Nikos Peios switched from Ergoteli to Kifissia and quickly showed that he can make a difference. With a vertical play, inexhaustible energy in midfield and the ability to press space (from the “8”), he developed into an important weapon in the hands of Giorgos Petrakis.
- Antonis Papasavvas has been at Kifissia since the Third National Team days and is one of the six elders in the dressing room. A constant asset for the club, he developed his game significantly that year and became the main option for the ‘6’ in the eleven.
- Panos Pritsas suffered from muscle injuries in the first half but gradually picked up momentum and found himself stable in the Kifissia line-up. Among other things, he scored two key goals en route to promotion, one in a home win over Ilioupoli (which paved the way to victory a week after their first Super League 2 defeat) and one in the derby against Athens Kallithea.
- Mandi Talal is one of the best footballers in Kifissia, with one-on-one skills and creativity. Sometimes at “10” (main) and sometimes at “8” (secondary), it was another great weapon in the hands of Giorgos Petrakis, with the 6 goals and 4 assists confirming – from a numerical point of view – the impact they are having on the team had their game his team.
- Michalis Koiroukidis may have missed the penalty in the 45th minute of the game against Kalamata (by the way he was 4/4 up to that point this year) but that doesn’t in the least diminish his contribution to Kifisia’s rise. After all, it is the Northern Suburbs team’s top scorer in Super League 2 (with 13 goals).
- Last but not least, Andreas Tettei is one of the most hyped players in Super League 2. And rightly so. His physical qualities and ability to keep the ball on his feet helped him climb the scouts’ blocks to such an extent that a great proposal from abroad (Vyborg) came in a few months ago.
Were they the only ones who noticed? NO. We could wrong some who were not mentioned by name. Because in a (so) great success only one, two, five, ten have no share in the “Bravos”. It’s a collective effort that justifies those who took part. to the antenna.
