Preliminary investigations on behalf of Interpol after a complaint to the Austrian authorities about illegal betting, as NEWS 24/7 reports.

A major investigation by the Economic Police is currently underway to solve a case of illegal cross-border betting, as NEWS 24/7 writes.

The investigation began on the orders of the financial prosecutor, at the request of Interpol and after a complaint to the Austrian authorities about illegal betting involving people from different European countries, including Greece.

While the complaint in Austria concerns the country’s games, the mandate of the Financial Prosecutor’s Office to the Financial Police is to investigate the case on a larger scale in relation to all persons involved in our country, ie including the possibility of illegal betting on games and in GREECE.

According to the information, dozens of house searches have been carried out so far, particularly on at least 30 people targeted as potential suspects, in different regions of the country, including two unseen agents from Super League 2 teams, in Peloponnese and Crete. The investigations relate to both the specific championship and games in smaller categories.

However, the authorities emphasize that the investigation is at a very early and initial stage, there are no charges and no charges have been filed against anyone at this time, except that documents, computers and all digital evidence have been seized for analysis. Perhaps there will be evidence and circumstantial evidence that will prompt the authorities to press charges.
