They continued with victories Veria and AEL, Kavala double stay
Veria and AEL defeated Anagennisi Karditsa and Almopos Arideas respectively, with the Queen of the North remaining at the top by a six-point difference. Kavala defeated Apollon Larissa 1-0 away and sparked the battle for relegation.
The 30th game of Super League 2 is over veria and AEL continue their way to the final of the championship with victories. This, of course, “suited” the “Queen of the North”, who took another step to claim promotion and achieved 68 points, while AEL follows with 62 points.
Veria and AEL cleared from the first half
Pavlos Dermitzakis’ team beat Anagennisi Karditsa 2-0 with a goal for the dressing room and goalscorer Petros Giakoumakis in the first minute. Anagennisi Karditsa came close to equalizing in the 11th minute, but Lareas’ head landed on the bar. Bletsas set the final score with 90+4′ and thus sealed the hosts’ three-pointer.
From the first half AEL also cleared Almopos Arideas in Larissa and prevailed 2-1. The Auburns scored two heads, from Koustas at 9′ and Thanasis Papageorgiou at 14′. Then the Goutsidis players maintained their lead in the score, although the Macedonians reduced the result with Triantaphyllakis.
Double stay for Kavala
Kavala produced a superb double that boosted his hopes of staying there by beating Apollon Larissa 1-0 away. The Argonauts’ goal scorer was Kayoubi in the 76th minute.
With this result, Kavala reduced the gap to 13th Pierikos to one point, while Larissa remains in a difficult position with 28 points.
Iraklis held Pierikos down in a satisfying game
Iraklis scored their second straight win, beating Pierikos 4-2 at home. Costas Georgiadis’ side took an early lead thanks to Damian Silva’s goal. Katerini’s side equalized in the 31st minute with Krimitzas while Kostoulas made it 2-1 before the end of the period.
The “old man” increased to 3:1 in 79′, thanks to Jubitana’s goal, George Vazakas’ team with Kanoulas narrowed the gap to 3: 2, but Vitinio made the final score of 4: 2. With this result, he rose to sixth place in the table. On the contrary, Pierikos is just one point away from the relegation zone.
Niki Volou sank Trikala
Trikala is closer to relegation after the heavy 3-0 home defeat by Niki Volou. Aleko Bosniadis’ team had taken a two-goal lead after completing the 10th minute thanks to goals from Panagiotidis in the 4th minute and Kouskounas in the 10th minute.
Thomas Vassiliou scored the final score in the 88th minute and with this result the blue and white climbed to third place in the table.
Panserraikos and Xanthi remained at zero
Panserraikos were level on points with Xanthi (0-0), a result that keeps Akrites even further from the top while the Macedonians closed the gap to the relegation zone.
The game had some good periods where the two teams neutralized each other without much difficulty. At the same time, PAOK B defeated ‘Olympiakos Volou, leaving the Red-Whites in a difficult position.
