Davelis: “Dermitzakis fulfilled his duties in training, I think the crisis is over”

The owner of AEL, Achilleas Davelis, said in an interview with ERT, among other things, that Pavlos Dermitzakis trained the team today (October 12) and was of the opinion that the problem had been resolved.

THE Achilles Davelis made statements to ERT about the matter that has arisen in the last 24 hours with the coach of AEL, Pavlos Dermitzakis. The 54-year-old coach tendered his resignation after the victory over Heracles due to insults from the team’s fans against his dead mother.

In today’s training (October 12), Dermitzakis performed his duties normally and the training was carried out according to his instructions, which the team’s president confirmed while expressing his belief that the crisis has ended.

In detail, what Achilleas Davellis said to ERT: About the crisis that happened in the team: Our trainer performed his duties normally throughout the training session. I think that the crisis, which unfortunately took place in our city and in our team despite all the unfavorable circumstances, is over“.

Because all of this happened after a victory: “It happened after a win in a crucial game for the team. We tested our new coach and were clear about who we had in our new potential partnership. The last thing we would expect at any level would be to suffer such devastation.

We took care of it immediately because what happened yesterday does not characterize either AEL or Larissa. An entire city with 200,000 inhabitants and outstanding personalities cannot be stigmatized by a thin minority that has no self-determination, no goals or anything like that. They offer nothing to the team, they are harmful“.

On the question of whether he would generally leave the club if Dermitzakis gave up his position, Davelis emphasized: “At least from the position of the president and from there everything is open. I do not tolerate such attitudes, within 15 months I gave my soul for this team. These efforts cannot be undermined by some people in the most vulgar ways“.

About the conversation he had with the coach: “We have an excellent relationship with the coach, we had a long meeting. Beyond the level of opinions, my duty, within the framework of the Sports Law, is to ensure its full implementation in Larissa and its stadium. From the day after the team returns to its headquarters, we will enforce the obvious things within the law so that there is normality both in the competition and in general.

As part of a civilized relationship with the majority of our fans, there is no reason to engage in such practices. In problematic situations, we exercise our strictest powers in cooperation with the relevant authorities“.

What happens when the same insult is repeated: I think there are countless insults in the groups. When it comes to targeted attacks on people, there is a problem there. Especially when it comes to holy people in the book, some uncharacteristic elements, then the reaction should be immediate. I don’t want to hide from you that the city has been in turmoil since yesterday with these minimal extremists who have decided to go beyond all limits.

We have the full support of not only the AEL fans, but also the citizens of Larissa. We have the moral strength to defend both society and the product of football. We are resolute within our legal rights.”.

Whether he believes the team can achieve promotion: I believe that both the administration and the coach will do everything humanly possible to achieve our goals. I cannot specify or prescribe anything for reasons we all understand“.
