Superleague 2
A hat-trick and victory for Olympiakos B over Panathinaikos B in the “eternal derby” of Super League 2
Olympiacos B’ was better for most of the derby against Panathinaikos B’ and won 3-1 in the first meeting between the two teams at Super League 2 level, with the protagonists and goal scorers being Tselios, Kostoulas and Apostolopoulos.
The first “derby of the century” at the Super League 2 level was “red and white” as Olympiakos beat Panathinaikos 3-1 in a game at the Piraeus Sports Center on Matchday 4.
This was the first win for Ariel Ibagasa’s side this season, with Olympiakos leading for most of the game, scoring three goals with Tselios, Kostoulas and Apostolopoulos.
On the other hand, Panathinaikos had its moments, managed to reduce the score and came close to equalizing, having contributed to Bilal’s penalty when the score was 2-1, but could not bring anything positive to the home of Olympiakos leave .
In the first half, Olympiacos was better after the first 15 minutes of the game and scored the longed-for goal through Tselios in the 26th minute to take the lead. The home striker, who had been substituted in the 16th minute due to Ibagasa’s injury, became the ball receiver on the left side, made the move and a nice space without Xenopoulos being able to react, and made it 1-0.
Panathinaikos’ answer came in the 32nd minute when Voutsas gained possession outside the penalty area and fired a powerful shot, the ball flying just over Papadoudi’s goal.
The hosts scored a great goal in the 49th minute through Kostoula. The young striker received the ball just below midfield, went past his opponent, followed the move and shot to make it 2-0 against Xenopoulos.
Panathinaikos reacted quickly and reduced the score with an equally beautiful goal. The Greens went on the attack after a steal in their defense, the ball reached Sardelis on the left with a beautiful diagonal ball, who fired the shot into Papadoudis’ opposing corner and made it 2-1.
Olympiacos could have scored a third goal in the 55th minute, but Xenopoulos impressively rejected Marinos’ header and then blocked Ba’s new header.
In the 62nd minute, Panathinaikos scored a penalty when Sideras was brought down by Karakoutis. Bilal shot but the Egyptian centre-forward hit the crossbar, meaning the Shamrocks missed a great chance to equalise.
In the 75th minute, the Greens had another good moment when Kaloskamis received the ball and made a diagonal shot, which Papadoudis blocked firmly.
Three minutes later, Olympiacos found the goal that “secured” their victory. Apostolopoulos made a vertical move from the left and shot outside the penalty area. Xenopoulos miscalculated in his attempt to chase the ball and it ended up heading towards the Panathinaikos net, with the Greek goalkeeper unable to stop the ball from going towards the net, making it 3-1.
