The Copa Africa starts tonight and has ten footballers “representing” Greek football. Five of them belong to Olympiacos, another three play in the Super League 2. Sportish records the progress of the international Africans in their teams, but also their contribution to the qualification phase of the major event.

The curtain on the Africa Cup opens and Greek football should not be missing from the events. Not only with the participation of footballers from the Super League Interwetten, but also from Super League 2, as three teams from the second Greek football league will be there in Cameroon.

The “dominance” of the Greek representation at this event is of course Olympiacos, as five players who will take part in the tournament will be his own, while Mamdou Kane, who was loaned to Neftsi Baku, will also take part. Aris, OFI, PAOK B ‘, Niki Volou and Olympiakos Volou also have a player.

the Sportish introduces you to the players who will play in the African Cup of Nations, their participation with Greek teams, but also their contribution to the representation of their country.

The red and white five with ambitions

The Copa Africa gave Olympiacos a headache as Piraeus (next to St. Etienne) is the second European team with the most players in the tournament, as only the French Mets have more, seven in total. Some of them are among the favorites, two of the five are already affected by the coronavirus.

Pape Cisse

The 26 year old Senegalese stopper from Olympiacos is having a very good time as he is at his best in port this season. He has played a total of 27 times in all competitions and scored five goals.

Cisse didn’t do much to make it through to the Africa Cup of Nations final as he didn’t record a minute of participation. In fact, he was only on the mission in two of the six games Senegal entered for the qualifying phase. The goal of Ali Cisse’s team is of course to win the trophy for the first time in their history. He played a total of six times for his national team and scored one goal on his debut.

Pierre Conde

The 26-year-old Cameroonian midfielder was unlucky because he tested positive for the corona virus in the team’s first training sessions and is not rated in the first few games.

Conde didn’t quite live up to Pedro Martins’ expectations in his first season with the Red and Whites, having assisted in 19 games while often playing on the bench.

Kunde played for the Copa Africa qualification in all six games in Cameroon and scored when his team lost 3-1 to Cape Verde. The aim of Cameroon, which is also hosting the event, is to win the trophy. They are also one of the favorites as they will play at home. In total, he has worn the shirt with the coat of arms 24 times.

Agibu Kamara

The 20-year-old midfielder from Guinea has attracted the eyes of the top teams with the red and white jersey this season and will try to do the same at the Copa Africa. The 20-year-old midfielder has scored five goals and provided four assists in 25 games this season.

Agibu was not used in any of the six qualifying games. The 20-year-old midfielder became a regular member wearing the red and white jersey, contributing to his country’s efforts to qualify for the World Cup. Guinea’s goal is to get as high as possible in the tournament.

Henry Oniekourou

The Nigerian midfielder was found “spontaneously” with his team after he was called in a hurry because of two injury problems. The 24-year-old midfielder moved to low tide after scoring a goal and assisting in 21 games.

Oniekuru was out of action in the first four games of Copa Africa qualifiers, played in the last two and shared an assist in defeating Lesotho. He has played a total of 15 times for the “Super Eagles” and scored two goals. Nigeria is also one of the favorites that can make a difference.

Gary Rodrεςguez

The 31-year-old midfielder from Cape Verde was the last Olympiacos transfer from the “window” of the free agents. He has played eight games for Piraeus so far, with no goals or assists.

In qualifying he played in the first two games and scored a goal in the tie against Mozambique (2-2). He has scored six goals in a total of 34 appearances with his national team. Cape Verde is not a favorite of the event and will be looking for a wonder to differentiate.

The two representatives of the “super leagues” outside of Olympiacos

Abubakar Kamara

The Moorish Martian attacker will give the “gift” at the Copa Africa and will be one of the weapons of his team chasing the miracle. With the Yellows he has scored five goals in 17 appearances so far in all competitions, while sharing three assists.

The 26-year-old striker has not had a year since his debut with the national team as he scored his first goal on the 26th in the next (and last) game. In a total of seven appearances, he has scored two goals with the Mauritanian national team.

Davis Epassi

OFI’s Cameroonian goalkeeper becomes a team-mate of Pierre Conde. This year he has played a total of 13 times in all competitions, conceding 14 goals, while keeping his homeland intact in five games. He was appointed to the national team for the first time on June 8, 2021, so did not contribute at all to Cameroon’s qualification for the Africa Cup. On the contrary, he took part in the World Cup qualifiers (due to the lack of Onanas from Ajax).

All three of the Super League 2

Ismaila Uentraogo

The 22-year-old midfielder has made seven appearances with PAOK’s second team in Super League 2 without scoring a goal or providing an assist. Despite playing in the second division, he was found in the calls of Burkina Faso. In qualifying for the Copa Africa he only played the last game, a full 90 minutes, while he played a total of 10 times with the men’s coat of arms.

Jose Miranda

The 23-year-old midfielder from Equatorial Guinea plays on loan from Getafe’s second team for Niki Volou. By winning 10 games in all competitions, he scored one goal and shared three assists.

Miranda has played in four of the six qualifying phase games. He even scored a goal in the 3-2 win against Libya. He has a total of 23 appearances with his national team with a result of 2 goals.

Oscar Siafa

Miranda’s team-mate is the 24-year-old Olympic Volos striker, who was taken over as a free agent by Spaniard Laredo. He has scored four goals in Super League 2 this season, but was called up to the national team on September 7, 2021. He didn’t play at all in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

The ones who got called but cut off at the last minute

Jonathan Morsey

The Panetolikos midfielder struggled with the smallest ranks in Sweden but chose his birthplace Sierra Leone among the men. Although he was eventually called up to the national team due to an injury he sustained in early December and they are still boxing him, they have taken him out of action in Sierra Leone. With Agrinio he has scored three goals and shared one assist in 15 games this year.

Bakari Entiage

The 23-year-old central defender from Mauritania plays with the Rhodes shirt in our country. He was called up in the national team preselection, but was struck from last 28th place at the last minute. In fact, he played in all qualifying matches in qualifying, while playing with Mauritania a total of 39 times.
