PSAPP meeting with Super League 2: “Even the continued existence of the championship is at risk”

PSAPP met with the board of Super League 2 to highlight the serious problems facing the category of Greek football, stressing that there is also a risk to the league’s survival.

The PSAPP held a meeting with the board of Super League 2, at which the serious problems, which even endanger the continued existence of the league, were forwarded to the responsible authority.

The corresponding announcement:

Meeting with the Board of Directors of Super League 2, consisting of Messrs. Martsoukos, Stamoulis and Vougidis had a PSAPP delegation consisting of the President Giorgos Bandis, the Head of Communication of Football Players Vassilis Papadopoulos, the General Director of the Association Yannis Brachos and the Head of Men’s Football Costas Papadopoulos passed.

This made the association aware of the serious problems of Super League 2 and in particular, as already mentioned, the indifference of ERT SA. instead, on the basis of the law (Article 25 paragraph 2a N4809/21) to proceed with the renewal and continuation of the television contract as well as the only 5% that it received last year from the taxation of the players’ betting winnings, that provided for in the original MLA 17%.

Our board emphasized that the above-mentioned problems even threaten the continuation of the championship, which began this year and after several years at the appointed time.

The PSAPP expresses its grave concern about the seriousness of the current situation, which could once again affect football and football players, and sounds the alarm bell to state and organized football, calling on them to give their full support to find a solution.

In addition, the association submitted concrete proposals to the organizing authority that it believes will strengthen its efforts to address the problems it faces.
