Sakis Tsiolis resigned from the technical direction of Iraklis, Geraios said goodbye to the 64-year-old coach with his announcement.

The atmosphere in Hercules is not good, especially after the consecutive negative results. A day after the home defeat against Apollon Pontou, Sakis Tsiolis submitted his resignation, which was accepted.

“PAE POT HERACLIS announces that the coach of our team, Sakis Tsiolis, submitted his resignation to the major shareholder Stratos Evgeniou and the members of the management, which was accepted.

The management of PAE thanks the coach for the perfect cooperation during his one-year stay at the helm of the team and wishes him good luck in everything he does in the future.” says the elder’s announcement.

Tsiolis has been at the helm of the team since December 14, 2022. After seven games, Iraklis is in 11th place in Group A with five points.

Statement from Tsiolis:

“After the meeting between the PAE board and myself, it was decided at this point, of course with my suggestion, that I should take full responsibility for the situation in which the team finds itself, both competitively and in terms of points.” In In these cases, resignation is the only option for a coach.

I would say that this team, perhaps in detail if we exclude the game in Volos, was equal or even superior to the teams they faced. And I’m upset because if the two penalties had come in with Levadeiakos and Apollon Pontos, we might have done better. Let us also remember that in our home games we were forced to play on an extremely unsuitable pitch at the Kautanzoglio Stadium and even without our great strength, namely our fans.

I am the one in charge of the squad. We did an assessment and decided to build a young team because we had a license violation. And of course always with the justification of reducing the budget compared to last year’s squad for the good of the team, as we had to deal with the objections from Mara-Jacob and other players, and I think we did the right thing.

A big thank you to the President and his management for the honor they gave me to coach the historic and great HERACLES. We’ve had a lot of good times, joys and sorrows lately, but that’s football.

A big thank you to the world, every day I received love and appreciation from everyone. For this world and the story of the team, I left two very good professional proposals, one in the summer and one a month and a half ago, but I had to be “present” and fight this battle together.

A big thank you to the doctors, physiotherapists, carers, my great colleagues and of course to the protagonists, the football players, with whom I will contact separately about our collaboration.

A big thank you also goes to the two amazing girls in the PAE offices, Emi Voutsa and Aleka Ioannidou, as well as the team’s press officer, Yiannis Roumeliotis, for what we went through.

I hope that this decision of mine relieves everyone in the football department psychologically in some way and that the positive results will soon come and take the team even further up the ladder, as they deserve.”
